I don't agree with Mom Madness.
I believe that if these people unite in their own countries as they have here then they can impact their own government.
AS A TAX PAYING AMERICAN I should not have to pay for someone who entered this country illegally. I understand being compassionate, but you must look at the bigger picture. If we continue to give citizens of other countries benefits that need to go towards Americans and our children and our childrens children. What will be left?
We as a nation are foolish to think that we can continue to allow illegal workers into this country at the expense of Americans. Corporate america makes a killing with these workers which in alot of cases ARE doing jobs that americans will do. Americans will do construction, landscaping, factory etc at a fair wage.
Illegal immigration is a problem bottom line. And it is taking a toll on hospitals and schools. If you don't believe it, go to an area where there is a large amount of illegals and watch how our children are hendered because teachers are busy trying to get NON speaking children to comprehend the lesson(s). And I know this for a fact because my sister and I have several friends that are school teachers.
And illegals do get SS benefits. IF YOU STEAL a SS#, that means your paying into SS and therefore you will reap SS benefits. And they (government) are considering giving benefits to illegals after 18months of being here. And Americans have to wait 10 years??????

I am more than just a 'little' concerned for my children's future, particularly their heavily impacted education, but then I live in LA, and you may be in an area that isn't quite as badly impacted, yet.
However, I do have to point out that saying something 'illegal' is 'allowed' is a bit of an oxymoron. I only wish the enforcement arm of immigration saw it so.
I don't know about you but I am going to renounce my citizenship and become an illegal immigrant because they have it better than I do!
Yes-English needs to be learned. Yes-they need to get a green card. Yes-some are hard working, some aren't. But there is no official language of the U.S. It benefits everyone to be bilingual-not just Spanish-other languages too. But since there is a HUGE influx of Spanish speakers, it will be helpful to all if we learn to communicate with them and help. Don't be ignorant-there are white, black and brown legal crackheads eating up our taxes and abusing the system. Plenty of them.
No illegal should be allowed anything, and the ones that lie for them, provide false documents for them, hide them, transport them, smuggle them, and provide any types of service to illegals, should be punished to the extent of the law. Once you start hitting business, housing areas, benefits agencies, and others who accept their money for illegal services, and services they are not entitles to, we could really shake things up. I have other ideas, but they are too harsh for some of the timid readers.

You seem to be stereotyping or misjudging. How many illegals get foodstamps. I thought to get aid you have to have a SS#. Otherwise just anyone can get aide right, even you and me. I can say I'm Maria Gonzalez and have no proof and get foodstamps, so No they arent getting food stamps. Healthcare? They deserve healthcare. No one should be turned away regardless of who you are. I can go to the county hospital and get free healthcare because they cannot turn me away and give false info and they wont ever find me. Take our jobs? If you think they are so uneducated and below you you must not have a secure job. I am secure in my position that no illegal is gonna come take my job. Im only forced to learn the language because family members know spanish and they are either legal residents or legal citizens. So that is why I am forced to know the language. Also the majority of children with serious illnesses (cerebral palsy, leukemia) are minorities so yes I will learn the language to be able to communicate to the parents of these children. I am a single mother of 2 and take care of 2 brothers and struggle with 2 jobs to support my family and put my kids in school. Concerned with your childrens future? The illegals have little impact on your childs future. SS money, illegals do not get it. Its the Americans that do but when your children are old it may not be available for them. Future as far as war, Its not the illegals that put us there its our American president that did. So the future of your children lies in the hands of the Americans. Dont get caught up in all the stereotyping of them taking your job and stuff like that.

I too am very concerned about the future of my children.Their education is suffering because we are too busy worrying about the people who are here who can't speak English.My child's education should not have to suffer for those who don't belong in this country.
What really concerns me is the American people who are turning a blind eye to the problems these people are causing in this country.
Yes,they do get benefits.Yes,they do get free health care.Free housing..yup.Why can't people see that all they need is an anchor baby or a fake SS# and they can get anything they want.Yet,when one of our own citizens needs some help,they get turned away.

I think we need to stop catering to them. I do realize that most of us are offspring of immigrants, but they came here legally and proudly became citizens. I can trace my ancestry back to England, and relatives who fought in the Revolutionary War. They fought to make this country what it is. I am proud to call myself an American, but I am losing that pride when wherever I go in my county I have to put up with Hispanics. Our crime rate has risen so much even in the last few years, and when you read the local paper about drugs, rape, or murder, probably 90% of the offenders are Hispanic. They also keep having children which we are forced to educate. Bush claims that they help our economy, but how much of each illegal dollar they earn here goes back to Mexico?
NO!! But this applies to all illegal’s, not just those from Mexico The healthcare system should be for emergences only. I have lived in other countries and guess what; I tried to learn the language of the country I was in. I never got to where I could discuss world events but I learned enough to function. Having been in the Navy I have had the opportunity to live and visit other countries. I always tried to learn something even if it was only yes, no and thank you. You would be amazed how those simple words can break the ice or keep you from getting onto trouble. At a bare minimum it shows the residents of your host country that you respect them. In this country there is no official language, that has to be changed. The “PC” attitude that has infected our country has gone on for too long. Why are we spending our tax dollars on multi-language pamphlets, handbooks and other official forms? What’s next text books, oh wait I think we already have that, at least here in Southern California with these Spanish emersion classes. Print it in ENGLISH only. Then charge for translation services, but offer ENGLISH as a second language for FREE. I have no problem with welcoming new residents to our country, I believe that it makes us stronger and gives us insight into how things can be done differently, but they should learn our language ENGLISH and things about our country. Don’t come here saying you want what we have to offer, take it and then spit in our face.
Canada is a nice country, but it is a country that is divided and will never be a true world power because they speak two different languages English and French. We are headed in that same direction with English and Spanish. If you want a well run, well defended country then you need a common (official) language that everyone is FLUENT in.
If you look at the Bible you find that when the people were one and their language was one, then there was nothing that they could not accomplish. That is until the confusion of tongues, or multi-language. With a single voice (language) we can accomplish almost anything.

Finally, this country is a melting pot for all people and all languages. WE DO NOT HAVE a LEGAL LANGUAGE IN AMERICA. BROKEN-ENGLISH is widely spoken, but we do not speak ENGLISH. Why did the slaves have to give up their language.....why didn't the slave owners learn to speak the African Language. Language is the most important thing to a group of ANY PEOPLE, it identifies who you are and from where you come. Sadly, most AFRICAN AMERICANS may never know their orgin or roots. I do hope that doesn't happen to Mexicans! However, I believe they should learn Broken English, IF they choose to, but not forced. I don't believe we should be forced to learn Spanish but it wouldn't hurt to have a second language.....most people except we Americans do have a second language. To say people are AMERICANS only says what their nationality is, but not what their ethnic group is. We shouldn't be considered racist if we are proud to be who and what we are so I don't think you are racist I just think you are thinking ONLY of YOU and yours. We are all God's children, none better than the other, none more deserving than the other. When we learn THAT, that is when we will be at peace and we will be able to find ways to get along with those different from ourselves.
