Is there a possibility I'll still get my green card before October? Am I in the system?
I'm on a L1 visa/EB1. Thanks.
Answer:
Answer is No- you are not allocated a green card number. You are allocated an A#. A # is number of an alien (foreign national). Once green card application is completed, you become resident alien (green card holder- a different kind of foreing national who has the right to stay indefinitely based on meeting certain residency conditions).
Yes, you are in system. And your A# will become green card number.
Your application was accepted when it was because the visa number was available at the time. How long does it take for US CIS to process the application is anyone's guess. However, if you are in EB1 category, processing and approval should not be a problem.
You can check processing times at uscis.gov.
And believe your lawyer, if you can. Posting a question like this on Yahoo form in my opinion is suicide. This forum is not answered by lawyers but people who have their personal opinions or personal experiences. However personal experiences are dictated by facts of their own cases.
