I'm sorry that people are telling you to go home. They are ignorant. Unfortunately, ignorance runs our country. This is a sad, sad thing. People should put their blinders on when it comes to being a human. No matter what our race/color, age, sex, beliefs, physical and/or mental capabilities, WE ARE ALL THE SAME!! We are HUMAN, people who need love and care and acceptance. We all breathe, eat, drink, and sleep to live. We are intelligent beings that deserve more than what most people give us. By the way, I commend you and your brother for your bravery in enlisting in our armed services to show your loyalty and love of YOUR country! I think you have proven your citizenship, even though it should never have been a question.
Here's why Americans have had enough:
Noone believes that the government will stop the illegal flow after they grant rights to illegals. We want the law enforced and THEN we'll talk.
Immigration (even legal) has gotten out of control. We are WAY WAY WAY above the levels we historically allowed during our nation's history.
America is now a welfare state. You can't have a welfare state with open borders. You will simply go bankrupt. This is already happening by the way.
Combine this with outsourcing, offshoring, H1B skilled workers, H1A guest workers, illegal "slave labor", dying industries and towns from naive globalism and bad trade policy, consolidation of industries due to merger and acquistions, and you will see why voting Americans have had enough. Our wages have been flat for years while housing, education, taxes, healthcare, food, and energy costs have gone thru the roof. Our birthrates are down in part because people CANNOT raise families anymore.
We cannot absorb the worlds poor. Something like 95% of the world's population is poorer than Mexico.
Our government has told us for YEARS that high school dropouts cost the country way more money than they bring into the country.
It's our country. We want it to resemble the country we knew in our youth. We don't mind immigrants but every time I go to the store, I am the only native-English speaking person around. I feel like I am traveling in Mexico or the U.N building. This is too much.
Lastly, homeland security concerns after 9/11.

If you entered the country legally, then you have documentation to prove it and should just ignore those who harass you. If you entered illegally, then you broke the law and should be dealt with accordingly.
Because you're hispanic and the Army leadership are a bunch of gringos. Seriously, a New Mexico national guard regiment was federalized a few months ago and reported to its duty station in California, where all of the men were subjected to strip searches to find the marihuana. They didn't find any, but to date, none of the gringo officers who issued those orders have faced any kind of charges.
It's just stupid. People should be paying more attention to the rising number of incidents that suggest that fragging might not be a terribly uncommon event.

One time I left my front door wide open and the police actually came to my job looking for me---my crazy neighbor called them and said I had been kidnapped.
My cousin has very dark hair and features so in the summer he becomes *really* dark and looks Middle Eastern. Well, last summer he was harassed by this neighborhood hick and told to "GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY, TOWELHEAD!"
It's funny because he's part Native American.

See? This is what the illegals are causing. Illegal immigration makes it harder on good, honest Americans who are Hispanic than it does on the illegals themselves. I don't understand why the Mexican American citizens aren't more up in arms over this.

me too, i was born in Chicago, I am American of Mexican heritage but when I asked a question why people assuming immigration always have to do with Mexicans (vise-vers).. .I was only defending them and i was told if I love Mexico so much to go back. that was stupid. i guess they don't like to hear the truth, they don't want Mexicans being defended even though those people were wrong.
