Should the U.S. stop broadcasting Spanish channels and make English the national language?

Would'nt this help?

Answer:
YES! If they want Spanish speaking channels, go back to the country of which they came. English should be the ONLY language in this United States.
NO! Try becoming a little more culturally diverse.

Or do you want to create a country of "superhumans" that are all blonde hair and blue eyes like Hitler?

It's 2007, act like it.
since we dont have a national language...no
The U.S. government does very little broadcasting. Private broadcasters make decisions based on profit. Is there some reason why those who wish to reach a spanish speaking market for profit should not be allowed to do so? If so, will the taxpayers reimburse those who own stock in such a company?
People will still speak their native language no matter what language TV and radio are broadcast in. Learning a new language is difficult for most adults, and your native language is also a strong cultural bond that you share with others that are like you. If you want to give important messages to a community, it's better to give it to them in a language they will understand. As with any language, only gradual integration and education will make people proficient English speakers.
That would be a start..

I keep reading "Free Speech" folks you are referring to the U.S. Constitution not to Mexico,Germany or any other Country and English should be the legal standard, not having to write things in Spanish to make their illegal venture easier, but make them try harder to acclimate themselves to America, not the other way around.
Absolutely!
we need to make English the official language and stop printing signs and forms in foreign languages. we don't need to stop the broadcast of spanish channels. i don't speak spanish but some of the shows are funny even if you don't understand them. i don't think banning foreign languages on air would make any difference.
Make English the official language? Yes! Stop broadcasting Spanish channels? No, this is part of the free enterprise system and the corporations that run these channels have a right to have them on the air. I would however be in favor of taking down Spanish signs in government buildings.
Yes they should stop broadcasting it. They need to learn english. or better yet, DEPORT THEM ALL
I think it is a great idea!!
That would be an unconstitutional restraint on freedom of speech. People have a right to broadcast in whatever language they choose. They are not being funded by the government. You seem to be very bitter about something.
No, free speech and free press. The Spanish stations are not the only ones broadcasting. There are Japanese, German and many others. You want to band all these channels?
Today I heard from a relative that , Congress has passed a bill . All schools will teach English for 1/2 day and Spanish 1/2, every day in all schools. I am really not sure about the complete story,or I would have send emails, faxes and called again. Something else being cram down our throats. If they want to come here, they need to learn the English language, other immigrants learn English, what makes the Mexican illegals better than other immigrants. Anyone have more info on this, I hope they post it here. English is the first language and needs to stay that way.
hey frank i love your name by the way, well I believe that non English speaking people would definitely learn English faster if they watched television in English but really its just up to the people. I believe it would be nearly impossible to take away Spanish television but honesty English school is the only way to learn.
YES ... YOU ASK AWESOME QUESTIONS!!

U.S.A. UBER ALLES -- WHITE POWER!!

PROUD TO BE A WHITE AMERICAN!!!
Yes

omg - some of them don't even have original answers for you.
Good plan. Then the ACLU, La Raza, and other such groups would be all over it calling it racism and unconstitutional, blah blah blah. That's all they do complain about everything.
No! They should be able to enjoy programs in their native language as long as tax dollars are not paying for it. That goes for any language station.

I do think the spanish speaking networks would get a lot of advertiser support from a late night ESL program for their viewers who want to learn english. Kind of like the late night college courses on PBS.
yes, because spanish media promotes illegal immigrants.
That is such a dumb idea? Are you Arnold Schwarzenegger 's son or something like that?
