Answer:
2 years. (or longer) to get a resident visa for a spouse.
6 months (or longer) to get a resident visa for a Fiance'
You should have checked with INS before getting married.
I need to know too, im going to go about it a different way by marrying here.
Deprnds on what state you are going to in the US, they have differant waiting times, fron the time I filled in texas, it took 5 months just to get a interview, then another 3 months just to the the green card
I am British my husband is a US Citizen we live in the UK. Once he had got all his visa paperwork together he hand delivered it and collected it later that day.
We were married in Houston Tx and now live in the UK.
I do know that postal applications can take weeks to go through. Not sure where your partner originates from and where you intend living, so my info might not be of much use to you.
