I filed for I130 back on april of 2001, what else do i need?
Answer:
You need to monitor the visa bulletin. It's not clear from your post what category your loved one is and if your I-130 has been approved yet, but you can figure it out yourself.
Go to www.USCIS.gov and enter the receipt notice of your I-130 in the case status field (right side of screen).
Next, check the visa bulletin. Identify which family category you are. Once you've identified the category, look at the table of family-based processing dates. If your case was filed prior to the date listed for your category AND the I-130 was approved, your loved one can file an I-485 green card application (if within the U.S.), or notify USCIS that the case should be forwarded to the NVC for consular processing. (this should happen automatically, but it doesn't hurt to nudge)
Oops, I answered before seeing your additional details. What's the family relationship--spouse, child, parent?
Is s/he in the US or out?
Are you or your spouse/fiance here legally? Have you received an approval yet?
If it was in April 20001? Then you need to call to see what happen with your application...
Is taking so long to have a response...
It take not more then 5 months to have a response.
How is your relative related to you? That will determine if you have a visa immediately available or if you would need to keep track of your priority date based on the Department of State's Visa Bulletin.
