Washington is resorting to what it always resorts to ... pointing fingers. When it comes to the amnesty bill, no one will take responsibility. Harry Reid now calls it the "President's bill." Bush says that Reid didn't get the expected number of Democratic votes. Both are talking past each other.
So what does Bush do? He meets with Republican congressmen yesterday. Bush is officially desperate.
And the outcome of the little luncheon with senators? Nothing. You know why? Because no matter how "sensitive" or "emotional" you can get over immigration, you still can't forget one huge elephant in the room: it provides amnesty to millions of criminals.
When the amnesty bill is brought back expect nothing different than before. This bill has been under works behind closed doors for months. Maybe even longer! Nothing is going to change. It's like taking a birthday present and changing the wrapping. It's the same thing when you look inside. And hopefully Congress will see passed this.
The one thing that might happen is an emergency bill to beef up border security. Right now any pretense, any promise of a secure border is little more than a political ploy --- not to be believed.. The only reason why that bill will pass is the ease the pain of amnesty to follow and that is unacceptable. It is empty rhetoric.

we will not be able to round up all the illegals, and if we did it would screw up the economies of many major cities
and why would we want to get rid of people who want to work for us doing our most menial and unpleasant jobs, it would be sheer idiocy
One can only hope that they will get the message. I know that I am not going to EVER vote for either of my senators again...and neither will my husband. We are pretty ticked at this amnesty BS. If I don't like the other person going against them, then I just wont vote.
Oh, and MOJ...I live in an URBAN area and I have always voted Democrat...the same way with my extended family. They are pretty ticked that we are being sold out.

No they are not. They realize that Americans will vote either Republican or Democrat. And these politicians desparately want the Hispanic vote. They know that you'll choose one of these parties so both support Amnesty.
Its all about the election, the lobbyists (i.e big business), their campaign contributions and gaining power. Nothing else matters. They (the politicians) really couldn't care less about you or I.
No, because they know that by next election most morons will have forgotten.
