If we can spend 200 billion a year on military why can we spend 100 million to close the USA Mexico border?

why are you singling out Mexico? Thats not our only problem...thats just being kinda raciest to one culture when we have illegal immigrants from other countrys as well.
Because the so called leaders of this great country do not want to. Simple as that. They are not doing what the people that elected them want.
I hope you are not saying that the military needs to be cut in spending in this time of terrorism and when part of the problem with the border being porous is that terrorists can enter unimpeded. I do want major changes in preventing illegal immigrants and yes it is a privilege but my fear is a wall will not solve the problem and also hurt some of our citizens that need access to the Rio Grande and other water systems that will be blocked by the wall.
Because America will do anything to be the strongest country and not be threatened by anyone. It has no problem spending millions on military, but will not spend on things which are more essential for its citizens.
Ok I can live with that, now what about the wall between us and Canada.That would be one HUGE wall to build.How much would that cost?
it would be easy to close the border, what people dont realize is that it might hurt the economy, they provide cheap labor, and cheap produce, people say they want no immigrants but complain when they have to pay more than a dollar for a head of lettuce.
They can't close the border before November 2008. No one would get elected. All minorities would vote against a candidate that would want the border closed. This would probably happen in 2009, after the elections. My idea is that the U.S. should help build housing and factories on Mexico's side of the border of the four states involved. Also transportation to the states for Mexican workers that want to work in the states with a return ticket every weekend or so. It is just like you said 200 Billion for the military but nothing to fix the problem. Lets get moving!

Politics, politics politics. Though 100 million wouldn't close the border, we'd need more than that.
I want a wall! But we have to continue fighting the war on terror!!...
We need to cut the 100 million (or however much is needed) out of other places--preferably social programs that have been so horribly abused by non-citizens. Imagine how much $$ would be saved in doing so, not to mention how quickly they would voluntarily leave the US.
Remove the benefits of being her illegally and they will leave of their own accord.

First of all the military is in desperate need of funds right now with the war going on terrorism.
Second, like someone else answered here before… why do you single out Mexico? What about the border with Canada where most of the terrorists have crossed into this country, how about Florida that gets thousands of immigrants a year and how about the economy?!?!? Do you have an ideas how much money California gets from doing business with visitors from Mexico? MILLIONS a day!! Plus the cheap labor benefits this country a lot too.
Now… that thing u said about women having 8 kids without insurance, lets be realistic not ALL of these cases are immigrant. There are a big percentage that are born and raised Americans that does not work and claim benefits.
I could keep on going about all the kind of things that are pros and con's about immigration to this country but at the end the thing that makes this country the best of all is the BIG melting pot it is!
Closing the Mexico-USA border would do absolutely NOTHING to stop immigration because they would find another ways to get in!
That might close on-ground incursions. What do you propose for tunnels ? Quite a few were discovered, you know ?
