Moving to USA?

You have two issues to resolve, in order:
1. To be able to legally take your children out of the UK - you seem to have that part under control
2. For you AND your children to be able to enter the USA legally and to adjust status in a timely manner. This is best achieved by using a competent immigration attorney. there are special rules for relatives of a US Citizen serviceman, but since they redesigned the USCIS website (www.uscis.gov) its almost impossible to find any decent information.
There are particular issues with minors. You do have to go through the steps to keep them legal once you are here.
If you have custody, it's not his problem. You're the main guardian, so they have to go where you go.

Your husband married you but doesn't see he'd have to have your teenagers?? I see big trouble. Why are you taking the kids away from their British familiar home in the first place?? Maybe he can live in Britain if he's near retirement or can get a good job.
Be careful in the USA. In 2003 over 30242 were killed in the united states due to gun crime, Canada is nice only 2 people were killed by guns and their were from Detroit. The US was once a marvelous place to move to...and still is if you stay in a more rural place.
Illegals have poured into our nation and where they have settled en masse, it looks like a third world country after a war.
Get a good immigration lawyer...and be sure your children are good with such an extreme move.....12 and 15 are tough ages!

I cannot place my hand on the information I wanted to post for you but there are many out there that have been in your position. Much depends on the circumstances regarding custody, whether you were married or not to the father of your children etc etc and ultimately the UK law regarding the previous. You may be better asking this question on one of the boards that only deal with immigration where others that have experiences with this will be able to help you.
