How long does it take for a US citizen to get his/he spouse legal status?
Answer:
Well it all depends, if he he/she has never entered the U.S. illegally, then the situation is going to be much easier. Usually it takes about 2-3 years.
it all depends on the person, their willingness to come here, and their background.
it could take 3 years, or it could take several decades as in the case of someone i know.

i'm pretty sure they become a citizen after taking a naturalization test but until then they are residents
9 months!!...just get her KNOCKED UP!!.*wink*
Just because you are a citizen does not make your spouse a citizen. It does make any child of yours under the age of 18 one though. It is not guaranteed she will even be given a visa. Best of luck!
Once you have your interview at the consulate/embassy in her country of origin, it is up to them to issue the visa. You can call the Ambassador/Consul and try and find out about any delays, or go through a politician here, etc.
I hope you realize the risks you are taking sponsoring someone's visa. No matter what happens, you are responsible for them for the next 10 years. Even if when she gets here, and if she dumps you and lives with someone else. Before bringing her here, I would suggest investigating her in her own country to find out what kind of person she really is. Also, go talk to your local immigration officers. You need to realize that the idea of a green card and life in the USA is very strong motivation for someone to lie to you, or pretend to love you, etc. I am not saying this is your case, but I just want you to have your eyes open. If she gets here and you find out it was fraud...do NOT hesitate to inform USCIS or ICE. Most local law officials are clueless when it comes to immigration fraud. You also should read up on VAWA, and how it can be used by her to secure legal permanent status...at the cost of you going to jail.
Sorry to rain on your parade, just stay smart.
depends on how backed up they are
