How can I get my file from the INS?

I am a naturalized American citizen --- but would like to know if I can get a copy of my file from the INS , how much would that cost and how long would it take for me to recieve them? (I was never an illegal, came here legally but I need a copy of my records/files)

You need to file a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) on form G-639. It generally takes 12-18 months to get the response. Below is a link to the forms page at uscis. Scroll down and you'll see your form.

Well, you can call USCIS (which you can get the number off of the USCIS website - uscis.gov) and request it. Or send a letter to the Service center you sent your petition to (Nebraska I would assume in your case since it's for naturalization) and request them to send a duplicate of your file. However, your attorney should have a copy of the entire petition s/he sent across. And you should have some copies yourself.
