In order to stop illegal immigration from Mexico, should we start right in ouw own backyard?
I understand many come here to make a life and support there family, but along with them comes any number of criminals and even terrorists (true).
If they were documented, taxed, and law abiding I wouldn't care if they came here and worked, but they need to adhere to our laws because they are in our country.
Mexico is a Democracy and these people need to understand that only they can make it a better place.
Think if Americans started emmigrating to Mexico they would solve the problem themselves? No. They would demand our government solve it because Americans flooding another country is Americas problem. It should go both ways.

I have been saying this all along.if you take away what they value...they will go home, or most of them will...they will have no reason for being here .Most of the problem comes from our own govt not protecting it's own people...and to pandering to big business...

Institute a national FOOLPROOF ID system
Enforce the current laws on the books
Start deporting any illegal caught or in jail because of felonies.

obviously this is a much better idea than thinking we can round them all up and deport them.
but i am concerned with how you'd actually get this done. it may require a special task force whose only objective is to deal with this issue. it could prove to be prohibitively expensive, but hey, who knows man?
Isnt america supposed to be the land of the free and is made up of immigrants. in case you never noticed the white people came over here and took over the land from the indians. the immigrated over in search of a better life free of tyranny.

Yes, we should give them very harsh fines for hiring illegals. Whether they are aware or not. If they want to avoid the fine, they'll have to do a back round check and make sure the would be employee is who they say they are. This may even help crack down on ID and social security theft. Since the company can report any person that doesn't match that ID or SS#.
Many do come here for a better life and to support their families, but the cold harsh reality is; we can't allow and support everyone that comes here. Especially considering most that come here from Mexico are unskilled and uneducated people, that will just be a burden upon our government and us tax payers. Basically, they'll impede on our liberties and freedoms, mainly economically, and will bring down the quality of our society where ever they are most abundant.
If we abolish the anchor baby law, make getting a job near impossible for them, make it impossible for them to get government benefits (Social security, welfare), and not allow their children to attend our schools, they'll most likely leave this country. We will still need a fence of some sort to stop any future terrorists from entering the country.
I agree, we need to look at the companies hiring these illegals and fine them. Putting up a BIG fence is just silly.
But at the same time we need to acknowledge how "spoiled" and lazy the American people are becoming: Americans who prefer to collect unemployment or welfare rather than work in a factory for $5 / hour. We want cheap products but we don't want to work to make them ourselves - instead we buy them from China.
You don't see crowds of unemployed Americans waiting outside of Home Depot waiting for someone to hire them for the day to make an honest buck. No, they're at home on the couch watching Oprah collecting their state hand-out.
The problem of illegal immigration starts here. If our companies want cheap labor - our prisons are full of workers who will work for FREE (or time off their sentence?). We'll train you, give you a profession, and you get out of prison a little sooner - and maybe after 10 years you will be used to getting up early and going to work every day.
Who knows what we could achieve...

I agree AZ+COL+GA have started enforcing the laws.It's sad that we have people that say what about the crying children.Did the parents care about there children crossing the desert with then an did all of the make it?
