What are my chances of qualifying for immigration to Canada as a skilled worker?
Answer:
Looking through the factors, I'd say you were more like a 61 ... and the current pass mark is 67.
To improve your chances, you either need to be better at the official language(s), or get a Master's/Doctorate degree for yourself.
From the sound of it, neither you nor your spouse are in the country, so using her schooling to bump up your score is out of the question.
I aslo have to assume you have an HRDC approved job offer; if you don't, then that's another way to increase your chances.
Without meeting at least the minimum score though ... well, your chances are slim. Unless the company you are being offered a position with can make a water-tight case that you are indeed the "expert from away", and there isn't anyone with your background/skillset available in Canada.
The problem (from your perspective) is that there is already a large number of experienced IT workers (and more graduating every year) in Canada.
Chances? .no good.
Canada has an open door policy,,so your chances are pretty good..?
Canada needs skilled trades workers. I could have given you a great web site Addy there but someone else ask a similar question and thought i was telling him to leave America so Yahoo pulled the question.. but anyway Canada is looking for skilled trade people.
You may want to look into coming as a temporary foreign worker, and then applying from Canada as a Skilled Worker, especially if your employer will sponsor you through that route. It's quickest to do as a provincial nominee, rather than a skilled worker. That also depends on which country you are coming from, as Buffalo, NY has one of the slowest response times right now.
