Im a british national overseas with an expired passport and expired HK ID?

Anyone know what I should do if I have a US residency but an expired british passport? I need a passport to travel for my honeymoon next year. Could I renew my british passport with an expired hong kong ID or would I need to apply for a US citizenship?
