The $5000 is a joke, first if they ever collect that money it will be needed to pay the cost of administering this farce. The illegals will be able to make payments, who is going to monitor this part and who is going to tract down the illegals if they to not pay up, more processing cost. Knowing Ted Kennedy there will be more waivers for hardships than illegals

They don't have it to pay 5,000 might as well be 5,000,000. If they were able to save the money they would only drain more from programs that assist them with food and housing. So I guess in a round about way our tax dollars would pay the 5,000 fine.
Yeah, $5000 is a joke compared to all the benefits and services they stole they were not entitled to and all the hospital bills that us taxpayers paid, and the taxes for public schooling for their illegal kids,,and the list can go on and on,,please,,,,,5 grand,,,is just a drop in the bucket on the trillions they owe us back,,,,
What about the schools? They are so eager to increase immigration and temporary workers (who will overstay since they voted down having the visa exit tracking system in place before the guest worker program) that they are ignoring the fact that our services can't adequately serve THOSE HERE. And they voted down making employers get a high deductible health insurance for the temporary workers, so who do you think will be paying for THEIR health care?
As for the border security, I am all for it. There are many foolish things Congress spends a lot more on.
