That is a common concern among many Americans right now. I agree. Some Americans are thoroughly enjoying the easy labor they can get from the illegal workers. That is only discouraging them from becoming legal, therfore some Americans are to blame for this.
The I-9 form is a federal requirement. Those companies not using it are knowingly breaking the law. Their time will come soon.

I agree but the illegals themselves are also a big part of the problem,they should share the blame with the employers.
If there was a crackdown on Businesses that hired illegals with heavy fines and jail time for the perpetrators, there would be a lot less illegal immigration.

The problem with "illegals" is,they "are" illegal! you don't have to go beyond that!! Just enforce existing laws.
If you take away the incentives, they wouldn't come.But they can still work here illegally and pay taxes with the ITIN #(IRS).Many do.Also some have fake SS # which they pay into a fund called the "suspense" fund.Pour billions of dollars into and never see a penny of it...The Govt. and its black hole sucks up this money and one wonders where these funds are? Perhaps paying services for the average citizens.

I don't think the "illegal" immigration problem is "solely" caused by companies hiring them. I think that our government is way too generous to other countries rather than it's own. I believe that if we vote in a president that will clarify the 14th amendment (which was meant for Black slaves) & revised it to say no more birth-right citizenship/anchor babies & if the new President takes away the welfare system (so that people learn to stand on their own too feet & illegals can't just pop out baby after baby in order to abuse that system) & stop giving these criminals freebies... they will go back to where ever they came from on their own.

Currently there are companies operating inside of Mexico (Coca Cola) for one. But there aren't 12 million job openings.
I once bought into the idea, that Americans do not want to do the nasty work. This is "False" .
My trip down to New Orleans showed to me that many residents there wanted to work. But the employers hired "Illegals" instead. And drew them in with the promise of higher wages and free food!
Remember this, the "Illegals" not only want just our crummy jobs, they will take your job if given a chance.(and I'm not talking about Taco Bell or Brocolli Pickers)

The Criminal Hiring Employers of course don't ever pay them correctly.
They took and are taking advantage of 90% of them.

The answer to your question is.. NO. Coming down on illegal hiring won't stop the crime, Unless they do the time.
Remember "Prohibition" It was made illegal and times were served. Once they got a handle on the liquor, then it was legalized.
Too many sympathizers need more bodies for their causes.
