To what extent would legalizing all drugs in the U.S. reduce illegal immigration?

Answer:
Drugs and illegal immigration are part of a bigger plan.
My guess is a lot.

The drug smugglers and dealers come through the border to sell drugs...many times they also act like human smugglers...the majority of illegal drugs here in the USA come directly from the Mexican border. If the drugs were legalized, then people HERE in the USA would be selling them and they wouldn't have the transport costs/threats which make the drugs expensive here, so they would be more sought after and the drug dealers in Mexico would be out of a job here...then they go back to Mexico with their family!
Not at all. The illegals come here for the jobs, not the drugs.
Huh? What do the two even have to do with each other?
Not much on the front of immigration, but it would technically cut down the on bout of organized crime. . .
They'll still keep coming.
It wouldn't even matter because the repercussions of legalizing all drugs in America would be far worse than the illegal immigration problem.
I see no corrulation between the two, except both take away from legal American
well, it's kinda two different sets of problems. But hypotethically, if you legalized drugs, you could create jobs in countries like Mexico which are hubs for the drug trade. Then there would be less people migrating from Mexico to the U.S. to find work. Although that hypothesis isn't concrete by any standpoint. There's plenty of variables involved that will come up either if Drugs became legal.
Not at all. Very few illegal immigrants are drug users or drug dealers, they come here for job opportunities and a better life. Most of the illegal drug activity has to do with paid-off US citizens on the border patrol and our own citizens selling and using the drugs. Most latinos in the drug trade make enough money that their living conditions in their own countries are comparable to if not better than what they would be here.
HUH? Legalizing drugs would be a disaster to Americans because they would be easier to get and it would be an increased source of revenue for the illegal aliens/drug smugglers. Really bad idea!
Legallizing drugs here in the US wouldn't reduce the illegal immigration. Those that bring drugs here from the south do usually cross the border illegally, but they come to drop the drugs off and go back, it isn't (usually) the illegal immigrants bringing the drugs. They come to work and what not.
