No, we don't need a "death zone." All we need to do is enforce the law. Prosecute anyone who hires invaders, and prohibit the invaders from receiving any social services. That will remove the incentive for them to come here. Then, the ones who remain will be easy to round up and send home.

Almost all countries in the world have tight border controls except us. why? I think if they know they will get shot for illegally passing, they will not do it. But the way we manage our borders sets presidence to how we handle problems of our own. If I am illegal and I know border control is not serious, why would I expect any other law to be serious. we just need to step up and take charge of our laws and enforce them

You can't stop them, besides ~ they're not serious criminals other than the fact that these people did cross border from Mexico into the US without proper documentation, but you do have a little bit of a point. It wasn't fair for other foreign immigrants who came into this country and have done so the legal way. Everyone should receive the same kind of legal equality regardless. I believe that when people come into a foreign land like the US, people should at least respect the law. Particularly ~ immigration laws...
They could just enforce laws like the Simpson Mazzoli Bill where illegals were granted amnesty with the promise that businesses would be fined heavily for hiring illegals. That and border enforcement is all that is needed.

I don't think shooting someone is appropriate unless it's too protect yourself from harm. Illegal crossing of the border is basically trespassing and unless they're armed it should be dealt with in a more reasonable manner than with deadly force.
I think a better approach to illegal immigration from any country is to focus on principles.
To me a basic principle of freedom is that I should be able to hire or fire anybody I want. The government has no business getting into the decision unless I commit a crime (e.g., harm). This suggests we shouldn't be passing laws to make it harder for companies to hire who they want or increasing enforcement on that end.
Another basic principle is that government has no right to steal from the rich to give to the poor. Charity should be voluntary. This will get rid of the entitlements that cause such a problem with illegals.
Instead of policing the world, we should bring our troops home and station them around our border.
