I am from France, My younger sister, aged 23, went to Canada from here as a visitor.?
Kindly advice me, is it possible to sponsor two people, specially if one doesnt have divorce from the first one yet; according to canadian laws?
Secondly, if she happens to be his common-law partner, what would be her rights on that land?
I need to have suggestions and advice from you guys.
Thanks.
Answer:
he cannot sponsor your sister. there are a number of reasons for it. first, he is still married and cannot sponsor another wife or fiance due to this. the other issue is that he can only sponsor a wife or fiance. the common law rule in canada is only legal once they have been living together here in canada for 2 years. wanting to sponsor someone to live with him and not marry is not common law as it is recognized until after the two years. basically, until he gets a divorce and either marries your sister or plans to marry her within 6 months of her arrival here in canada, he is not eligible. she can stay aas a visitor but she will not be able to work legally or go to school. if she tries to apply to stay on her own and is denied or works illegally and gets caught, she will be deported and her chances of reentering canada ever is very slim after that.
She needs a good woman. These men are all lairs
No. You cannot sponsor two people in a 'marriage' relationship. As for her having 'claims' on the land, she has NONE if she is common law. This man is obviously taking advantage of your sister's ignorance.
you can`t sponsor two people best of luck to you
i would check him out if i were her .i don't think he can have a common -law wife if he is still married to his wife
I would say that no he cannot sponsor a second woman if he is already married, and your sister would probably not have any rights to any property. The best thing for you to do would be to check Canada's government web site and see what the law is.
Tell your sis I am interested in her
Tell your sister to stay in France.
