If someone does complain, unless some other illegal activity is involved or there are real safety issues, the worst thing that probably happens is that you'll be told you can't use the garage as a bedroom and that someone from the city or municipality will be sent over to verify that you have stopped. And if you have, that ends it.

its illegal if you're FORCED to live in the garage. like if ur parents are abusive. but otherwise, it's a-ok. it might be cold in the winter. though and you might be exposed to harmful chemicals overnight. if ur willing to take the risk, then go ahead!

well if you are going into a garage without doing anything to it i would say to you why would you want to do that it would smell and probably be all that cozy but it has been know for people to go and make a section of the garage into a guest room like that you need to make it sectioned off from the garage like walls and everything because if you don't you have to worry about carbon monoxide from the cars OK with that stated as for your question is it illegal well some cities have ordinances saying that its illegal i say that you should go up to the city hall and check into it if there is one that's the place you have to go to find out if the is one or not

If there is a car in there, and someone left it running, you'd find it a bit too restful, if you know what I mean.
But if it's just being used for storage... it should be safe enough.

Not in California...If one can live in a garage, odds are one can sleep in it too.
I do not believe there is a law against sleeping in the garage. Some neighborhoods have restrictions; you might want to check on that.
