My husband has a Canadian and British Citizenship? How can I get EU citizenship if we want to move to France?
We are planning to move to France, I understand because he is an EU citizen he doesn't need to get a permit etc. Now, because I am married to him, would it make it easier for me to get the permir, and citizenship in France?.
Anybody has links to websites with steps to apply for residency? I was looking at the French Embassy page in Canada and didn't find anything about permanent residency.
Thanks for your help!!
Answer:
1.) It simple just apply for British Citizenship.

2.) British Citizenship make you an EU citizen.
3.) Citizens of member countries can travel, live and work anywhere in Europe.
Why don't you just move to Quebec? France has hard times ahead of it as it learns to cope with all the Muslim immigrants and their demands.
I believe you would first have to be a citizen of Enland before you could do anything in France. Your husband would have an easier time.
Contact the French authorities once you are in France.
There is no EU citizenship. Since you are married to a British citizen (and not a French one) different rules will apply to you in the UK and in France.
Hope this helps.
France has some different rules I believe..the British consulate in Ottawa helped me immensely in reclaiming my British citizen status even though I never lived there...it was my understanding that an EEC member resident can live and work in all the countries...when I was in the UK for an extended period, there were people from all over living and working in the UK...but like I said, I am still a little uncertain and do suggest the consulate in Ottawa.
