"The ring leader in the investigation was Roman Robaina, who lives in Florida. He was arrested in Miami yesterday along with his girlfriend, also part of a smuggling organization.
Investigators say the organization was responsible for smuggling nearly 300 illegal immigrants each week or nearly 15,000 a year into the U.S. from Naco and Nogales, Mexico. The immigrants smuggled into the U.S. traveled into or through Phoenix and to a number of other states as well.
The human smuggling operation reportedly made nearly $30 million a year with that money being sent from the U.S. to Mexico. "

This is merely suggestive of the depth of the problem. Employers of illegals indicted a few months ago have had new charges added against them for paying to have the illegals who were deported brought back. This was in Kansas City, and involved roofing companies. One of the people was indicted 3 years ago as an illegal alien himself.
Somehow, in the intervening time he gained legal status.
How terrible is that irony.

Well DAR I highly agree with you. Where is our fence indeed. I just hope that these people know what they are putting the U.S. Citizens through with these illegals. It's just costing us more money anyway! Anyone who smuggles anyone into this country has to be either illegal or spanish immigrants themselves. Either way, you've got to be pretty stupid to smuggle illegals into this country. Thank god the Amnesty Bill FAILED.
