So if illegals claim the SW, why not offer to buy it back?
We paid for it, add improvement and interest and I am sure we can sell it back for the right price.
Answer:
they don't want to pay for anything, they want it gave to them.

Louisiana wasn't just a little state back then and it was a huge chunk right dab in the middle of the united states controlled by the Spanish (no not Mexicans but the white spaniards) and French.
The purchase of California was southern cali and new Mexico. Now what I don't get is if we purchased those territories, why do we still have spanish names as cities?
As far as Texas goes this is how it all went down.
Mexicans needed new settlers to their land so they invited white settlers to come. In return the settlers would get land but the mexicans wanted the settlers to learn their language and adapt to their culture and call themselves mexican americans.
the settlers came and helped build but they did not abide by the laws. They did not adapt to their culture, they did not speak spanish nor did they consider themselves mexican americans. This was all in a short span of time so of course you need time to adapt to cultures but the citizens of Mexico were getting fed up and by this time American families were inviting all of their siblings and friends to come reside with them not invited by the mexican government.
Santa Anna was elected to fix the problem. White settlers were outnumbered and were told the land that they were offered is no longer theirs and to get out. The settlers fought back and were losing. If it weren't for the capture of Santa Anna which he sold out his own people in return for him to stay alive then the southwest would be Mexico.
After the battle all states above and beside Texas were considered America except for parts of California and New Mexico. The southern part of california was purchased as well as new mexico. Citizens of Mexico were not happy with their government's decision.
But..once apon a time before Mexicans were mexicans mixed with spanish, they were aztecs. Is the need for conquering a genetic trait?? Is sure does come across as the spanish thing to do.
