If all Europeans are considered "white" once they get to America?
Answer:
You know, that's the problem I have with calling Black people "African American." Many of them do not know where their ancestors came from just the same as a lot of White people don't know where their ancestors came from. What White person do you know goes around saying I'm "Irish/German/Italian American?" I don't understand why people get so upset by generalizations given by appearance? I know that I am considered to be "White" though my skin is not white. It's tan. It doesn't offend me. Why nitpick everything to death?! No, I'm not REALLY white & he's not REALLY black but for sake of description why would one be offended to be called either? I don't get it.
He would be a European American of African extraction

He would be a Black European American.
Black, as you are using the term, refers to a man of African pigmentation, dark skin hence Black (with a capital B) or White(capital W) for the light skinned europeans
When You use the term African-American or European-American, or even as myself Latin-American you are using Continental terms
