I was just on www.minutemanproject.com. is your take on illegal immigration?
Answer:
I think if you have something positive to contribute to American society then would should be allowed to enter OUR country Legally. If you come here illegally well then your probably a drug mule or involved in some other bad for America business and thus should be deported and not ever allowed back in again!!
I think that the LA police abused their power once again. it's obvious from the video the used unnecessary force.
And as far as the 92 riots it was just an excuse for the ghetto people to behave like animals and steal and destroy their own stuff!!!
Yes, they WERE justified. If they weren't justified then how come MORE police were injured than illegal aliens? The Police were there to PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY, the illegals were there to attack the police.
What was peaceful about the protest last year? I saw videos after videos of DRUNK illegal aliens attacking WHITE people and chanting "death to the gringo"
My take...You deal with the Demand and then the supply will take care of itself. So go after the people who are illegally employing these people, then the problem will be solved.
There is no such thing as "illegal immigration".
There are illegal aliens in our country. "Immigration"is based on legally migrating to another country.
I welcome immigrants, but despise illegal aliens and those who support them by giving them jobs, giving them a place to live, sneaking them into our country, and any other means of helping them. That means my government as well.
There are laws that they must follow. Planting yourself in my country is against the law.
The problem in LA was CAUSED by the illegal aliens. The cops were doing their job. When cops say move, you move! The media got in the way and THEY didn't move. Even if they didn't hear the helicopter announcement, if you see cops in riot gear (to protect themselves) anybody with some intelligence will get out of the way.
The pro-illegals say they were peacefully protesting. What is "peaceful" about a bunch of thugs that were going after the cops and causing a problem? Sure people got hurt, and that's horrible, but the ILLEGALS started it!
The protests did prove one important thing, just like last year. They proved that they are not needed!!! They wanted to show how vital they are to our communities.
If they are so important, why did everything continue on smoothly? Why were children able in school able to have the teacher's attention so that they could learn? Why were the freeways clear? One answer - the illegal aliens weren't around. (I didn't even see a single "Baja California" plate on the 1st. Normally it's over a dozen.
Don't confuse a riot with a revolution. Riots are never about accomplishing anything. The 1992 Rodney King riot was about black people venting years of anger and frustration at being mistreated and abused by white cops and having white people ignore it. "Oh, they're lazy, drug addicts so it's okay if cops lean on them a little." White people in America are not honest with themselves about how they view and treat black people and ANY constructive criticism of whites by anyone, is immediately dismissed out of hand by them.
This impacts illegal immigration because the problem wouldn't have grown to what it is today if white people didn't make a habit of "looking the other way" when their principles are violated by their own people.
If white people want illegal immigration to stop they need to do two things:
1. Enforce the laws on the books
2. Take away the illegals motivation for coming to America by preventing Corporate America from opening factories in South American countries that exploit them economically while committing human rights violations that no one wants to recognize or discuss.
God Bless the Minutemen
I just wished they'd stop multiplying like rabbits.
Don't look at MY picture.
Bi-national development and social policies are the solution, not walls. We in the USA gloried when the recent Mexican election was stolen from ex Mexico City Mayor Obrador yet he had, and still has, the social policies to make Mexico a fairer place to live for people of all classes. Eventually these programs would stem the tide. But who do we celebrate but Mexico's new president Calderon, a neocon who can do nothing for the restless people of Mexico because he is beholden to the same masters as our own leadership who care for no one other than their own. The minutemen are just thugs on the edge of the law looking for people to bully. It looked on TV as if the LA cops are cut from that same cloth.
Illegal immigration is just that-Illegal. It is truly amazing how many folks don't understand that term. I am sure there is no other country in the world that would tolerate 12 million illegal aliens in their country. You know as well as I do that if we entered any other nation, including Mexico, that we would be in deep do-do if we had no documentation. We would also we in jail. But somehow our country tolerates this mass invasion with barely a wimper. The president talks about building a restraining wall along "our" side of the border to keep further influx at bay and the screams from the left nearly drown him out. If you or I broke a law we would be in jail awaiting trial or have a warrant out for our arrest. These people get a flat out pass. And I don't even want to hear about racism or prejudice. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. This is a scam perpetrated on the American people by mouthpieces within the democratic party. It is a well know fact that nearly 90 percent of the Hispanic community votes on the left. Therefore it is in party's best interest to keep this debate going as long as possible. This is a lose-lose situation for the citizenry if dramatic action is not taken and soon. This influx has affected the economy adversely in many areas not to mention the security nightmare it represents. In many peoples opinion, these folks have no rights. They are not even citizens and yet have the gall to demand, and sometimes receive, drivers licenses, welfare, and a whole host of other entitlements that directly effects all of us. If it is not stopped, some historians give the country five years before chaos and bankruptcy shatter our generally comfortable life. I have no problem with immigrants grabbing a piece of the American dream-just do it legally like the millions that came before you. They had no safety net like folks do these days. They actually had to make do until they earned their place.
I think the protesters brought about the response by the LAPD by being violent themselves. i saw many of them throwing things at the cops, and those cops are only human
Don't worry we know where your heartache is at. And please do continue focusing on learning more about the realities that you probably can't quite project. It's about time that pull that tight money dad your parents have stoled decades ago and if you want send some to the minutemen for their flunked up involvement. That "NO ONE" here would do themselves.
NEWS FLASH: No longer will the prescribed >>>Oxycondin OC.<< be available to middle, upscale users who didn't need to go to the streets to buy opiate narcotics. Does that mean what I think it means?!
When folks result to ALL CAPS FOR THEIR RESPONSES it usually indicates they're not being quite objective about things. Just an observation.
My view on illegal immigration is very right-wing and in a capitalist mode: where there's a need, the market rules and American industries have shown not one little bit of hesitation to employ illegals in situations where it benefits them or they simply haven't been able to find workers here. Why is everyone mad at the folks who've come here to make a better life for themselves and their families, not to overturn our culture or government, and not angry at the industries?
The May 1 demonstrations were well within our tradition and actually should make many of the anti-immigrant crowd feel good about the prospects of assimilation. The actions of the folks I will not honor with the name of peace officers were, as so often happens, not justified and mainly brought about by the fact that they had the lovely bullet guns and the protesters didn't. Think Chicago 1968 or any civil rights march in my native South before about 1965.
"Were these just excuses to steal, rape, and violate?" That's not even a question worth justifying with an answer, since you've already provided your own. For the record, however, your viewpoint is neither objective nor correct.
Do you think the minutemen ever realized the jokes they were opening themselves up to with that name? Since they're obviously not out there on Boston Common standing against the British 230 years ago, the minuteman appellation was really a bad choice and many Americans, myself included, find it offensive.
Yes alot was accomplished people died and companies went under thats not getting things done and ohhh yea SIR RODNEY GOT 2.5!
Let's clear things up a bit, people say that there were nothing but a bunch of thugs at the protest, you do know there was only 20 individuals who caused the problem? right? There were 20 out of hundreds and the police started attacking everyone. OF COURSE IT WASN'T JUSTIFIED!!! ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD THINK IT WAS!
They should be controlled the early period when they come in,and then the government should give them documents when they have done their efforts to live in.
As a US citizen I have had the experiences of marrying a canadian citizen and visiting the poorest parts of mexico also. After seeing the conditions that the mexican people go through, I cannot in my heart blame them for wanting to run. The problem we are trying to solve here is not whether they should come over the border or not. It is all a matter of how. My husband has spent 6 years of his life and well over 5,000$ to come into this country legally. His residence interview and his citizenship interview have been pushed back from the normal wait times while the government tries to accomodate those who are here illegally. On top of that the fees have increased over 300% from before 9/11. That does not include the attorney's fees. On top of that My husband is a skilled laborer and could easily get a good construction job. But in the US he can't. Why? He is an immigrant (and an italian-looking one at that). Apparently, any person who is an immigrant is not worth what his skills and experience profess. He is an immigrant. Company's have over-looked him, passed him over, or blatantly offered him less money than his counter-parts. He is legal, but that does not matter. He is a hard worker with skills, but that does not matter. All they see is immigrant. Apparently Canada's labor force has no skill in the US Employers eyes. Can I blame the illegals for that? YES! Why hire a legal when there are illegals just across the train tracks who will do it for half the cost? But on the other hand 'half cost' to an illegal is sometimes big bucks in comparisan to where they came from. This debate has lobbyists in the fray for monetary gains only. Don't be fooled. At the same time, what does the legal process do for weeding out the good from the bad immigrants. If I am not mistaken, the terrorists were "legal". What is congress's answer to that? Higher fees and longer wait times? Give me a break. So how do we fix something that is not working on either side? Scrap it and start over. Illegals would be more inclined to cross over to the legal side if the fees were not so high, the wait times for being able to work and make a living were not so long. Illegals would be more inclined to cross over to the legal side if there were not any profit savy companies around to employ, abuse, and under-pay them. It is these companies that keep them coming. Punish them for starters. Force them to retro-pay for all the cheap labor they employ or employed. Use that retro-pay to fund tightening the border and building a system that keeps track of everyone who comes across our borders, whether by plane, train, boat, car, horseback, or foot. Document everyone without recourse. Then sort out the bad from good apples. You commit a crime, you get sent back to whatever spit of land you came from whether the crime is small or large. The legal immigrants have decent jobs. The higher wages give our economy a boost. Companies who make practice of abusing and under-paying illegals will be punished severly and should be put out of business. Those who want to enter the USA will have no choice but to get documented to get a job. Where there is no water, there is no fish. And Immigrants should not have to fear the government deporting them for any reason, but they should fear and respect the law.
