We won the Immigration Bill . Is this bad news in the long run ?

It makes me wonder if it would be better if it did pass.
If we get a Democratic President elected next year ( and it is very possible ) wouldn't you think that what they put together will be even more liberal than the one Bush put together ? Let's not kid ourselves, Bush is for cheap labor . But Dems are for keeping their fan base happy and the ACLU and I think whatever they come up with will be worse. And by that time people may be so sick of hearing about it that they will figure that a little fence is better then no fence .What do you think ? Who is our best hope ( D or R only) that will give us the toughest laws or better yet enforce the ones on the books without Corporate greed or bleeding hearts guiding them ? Who will stand up for the rights of legal immigration and strong borders with no excuses?

Answer:
Bad new, that is all we get. It makes you wonder to vote or not. Is anything going to change? I yet to see.
D or R doesn't matter are country is going down. Immigration bill or not they are still coming and no one is doing anything about it. A fenced should have been put years ago, but D & R's don't want this. Always trying to keep the peace, and our borders open and welcome to everyone. Our laws are so liberal that it is disgusting.
This bill was a steaming piece of crap. We don't need new laws. We need to enforce our current laws.

This bill failed because citizens do not trust our government anymore.

Had this bill passed, millions of Mexicans would get legal status before our border was secured. And guess what? The border would never be secured because our government is full of crap.
dems=cons when it comes to corporate interest. The defeat of this bill is neither good nor bad. We'll see what happens next year - around election time.
Alan Keyes
Bush didnt put this bill together Ted Kennedy and company did, it will be the same thing i would imagine. Its an unknown what will happen.
If the liberals win Congress and the White House, Republicans can and will filibuster any Amnesty Scheme in the Senate.

Gridlock is great for America as it prevents Congress from ruining our nation. Our nation is never at greater risk than when Congress is in session.
By the time a bill is passed the Mexicans will hold a majority in congress, and the senate, and the Governor of California (an immigrant) will be president.
Not bad news. Hopefully, our reps will get the idea that we want legislation that:

1. Secures our Border
2. Deports all Illegals.

As for those senators, including one from my state, who voted for the bill, this treason will be remembered come the next election.
No, it wouldn't have, they stripped out a few things last night so it ended up being a very liberal bill anyway. We are better in the long run. Keep calling and demanding our current laws be enforced and lets do our best to get a good leader come election time.
i just don't understand some people. they dont like illegals right? so stop illegal immigration by building the biggest border in the world. they want people to come here legally when its practically impossible to do so anymore ever since 9/11. but what do you plan on doing with the 12 million illegals here? the now dead reform had a lot of pros and cons. only some illegals were going to benefit from it. logically the ones who have no criminal record and have contributed to this country. don't those kinds of people deserve the chance for a better life. a legal status? in the long run say in 2009 the chance for an amnesty is bigger. that wasn't a option in this debate but now i think it will have a chance and THEN are people who are here with no good intension going to benefit from it.
Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah...

The current laws if enforced are adequate. We are not stupid we can and there already exists judicial oversight that would allow a humane and appropriate approach to removing those who should leave and allowing through due process those who have put down roots and become a productive part of the landscape.

It is very simple. I have a neighbor who works, speaks English, and is kind and considerate to his neighbors and pays taxes. He is Illegal and has a big problem but he should stay and I would vouch for him.

I have another neighbor doesn't speak English, has a trashy yard, always has some kind of crap going on at the house, doesn't work and is one welfare and food stamps and so on. He is illegal and I would help deport him.

Pretty simple humane way to do things and the current laws provide for such compromise.
Nobody won! The borders in mexico and canada still open. and in 5 years we will have an extra 5 million illegals. Nothing is secure, nothing is done. Way to go senators.
It isn't dems v repubs on this issue, and just look how much good having a republican president did us. The blue dog Democrat freshmen deserve thanks as did the conservative Republicans. We need to vote for individuals who are on the side of American workers, whatever their party may be.
NO, there was some things in that bill that would have destroyed the face of America..A definite reform is mandatory ...Even Barbra Boxer opposed it and shes liberal then liberal itself..
Democratics are the ones that are the best home. We need a better economy overall! It's not just a matter of illegals, they are not what is bringing down the country! Doesn't everyone realize that...

We need a strong government for the people who will enforce education and give more power to the people. We need to hear each others voices. Yes there is illegal immigration and there is a concern for that, but that is not the ONLY concern. That is not the only problem in this country! The focus should be education. We are the dumbest country in the WORLD! How sad is that... and we are supposed to be the ones calling the shots around the world. How contradictory.
The support for this bill was bi-partisan. Look how many Republicans (RINO) supported it!! We need to closely examine who voted in favor of the bill and vote these commie pinko traitors out of office! As far as getting a President who is not corrupted by the elite and will not tolerate illegal immigration at all, I believe Ron Paul is our answer. He's a an honest man with stellar morals and a true patriot. I have never been so impressed with a presidential candidate before.

All i know is that after this week, it's all about the elections next year because that's the next big thing to come. And that will create more discussion later about all sorts of topics.
