Is the term foreigner politically incorrect?
Answer:
foreigner
Function: noun
1 : a person belonging to or owing allegiance to a foreign country
2 chiefly dialect : one not native to a place or community : STRANGER
It is merely accurate, therefore pro-illegals find it offensive.
However, as one who gets HOT-BLOODED about the idea of rewarding illegal aliens, and believe that the USCIS and Homeland Security should be COLD AS ICE when it comes to dealing with illegals, I am not offended by it's use.
No.
Edit: I just wanted to point out that if you had ancestors come prior to 1918 there was no concept of legal and illegal as the US did not require passport documentation until 1918. Thus if your ancestors came prior to that they didn't come legally either.
Your ancestors were foreigners. Does that offend you? If so, you just answered your own question...good luck!
no i belive that is the right way to call a person from outside our country what else would you call them...
No and they were an awesome group in the late 70's.
Foreigner is not a very descriptive word.
I can be an american and be a foreigner if i go to other parts of america, heck, other parts of the same state.
It this it is better to say citizen of *** (a foriegn country) or resident of ***.
There are places in america where white people are foreigners and so are there places for black people.
its just a dismissive world that plays to the us vs. them thinking. because in the end foreigner only means "people not like me"
