The Bush/Kennedy Amnesty bill has got shot down. There was some good points to the bill, but I belive by being more aggressive with our immigration laws we can take control of this problem.

Can we now look foreward to seeing our current laws enforced ?

Answer:
We can look forward to it once Fred Thompson becomes President of the United States.

If we get a Democrat that simply won't happen.

Bush has no intention of ever enforcing our laws.
don't be silly. As election time comes around, you'll see dems and cons totally sucking up to the immigration issue.

Mark my words. This means NOTHING. Be realistic.

dude below, don't be a retard. Congress is just barely democrat right now. YOU dream on if you think business will be affected by your desires.
I certainly HOPE so! Although I am curious how Bush will get his revenge on the American Citizens for not bowing to his wants.
Bush is a lame duck now. Hopefully, he and Kennedy (the wrong one lived) will retire to Mexico soon.
Sadly no I think. Not until Bush leaves office. We also need to be careful who we put in the white house in 08.
Ah forget about for now, fix that Iraq thing, then come back to it
That's my fantasy.
We the people have spoken.so keep up the calls & e/mails close the borders & enforce the laws we have. No jobs no pay no stay.
I'm glad the bill did not survive. Too many compromises over this highly politically charged issue diluted it into something that would have been meaningless for immigrants and to the country.

Immigration laws ARE enforced. The problem is that the governmental resources dedicated to removing the people here unlawfully can not keep up with the numbers of people entering the country illegally. The process of removing people is not so simple as -- ICE finds someone here illegally and the next day they're on their way back home on a bus or plane. They generally have the right to go before an immigration judge. The process can take months or years and in the end, they might win their case and end up staying legally.

For all you immigrant haters, you should be disappointed that the bill did not make it. It proposed to charge exorbitant processing fees for the Z visa to cover the costs of enforcement. Now who is going to pay those costs?
As long as Bush is pres, our immigration laws will not be enforced. Bush is just too much in love with Mexico and illegal aliens! We have to put pressure on the House to pass the Secure the Border First Act of 2007. The only hope of it passing is if enough Republican Reps put pressure on Bush to get behind the bill so that the Repubs can win the 2008 elections. Immigration will be an important issue in the 2008 elections.

Secure Borders FIRST Act of 2007 Unveiled By House Members Bilbray, King, Smith
By Digger

Brian Bilbray (R-CA), Pete King (R-NY) and Lamar Smith (R-TX) unveiled a house bill on June 19, 2007 that is a slap in the face to President Bush and the US Senate who continue to pursue their amnesty for illegal aliens at all costs (most of which are to the US taxpayer and citizens of this country).
The Secure Borders FIRST Act of 2007 shows what a real immigration bill should look like. Enforcement, enforcement and enforcement. No special favors for big business. No special favors to the Mexican government. No special favors and the selling of US citizenship to those who have broken into our country illegally and marched through our streets demanding sh*t.
There is no chance that our current laws will be enforced. We can breathe a very small sigh of relief that the rate of invasion by illegal immigrants won't surge in response to the passage of another Amnesty bill, but we can't expect our 'representatives' to enforce the law without a metaphorical gun held to thier heads.
