[just my opinion we are the United States of America. We were inspiration to other lands and other countries. We are leaders. We . . . as Americans, need to assume control, then . . . anyone can come as long as they adhere to U.S.A. protocol for LEGAL immigration. Just my opinion.]

I always am amazed that Employers file quarterly income tax reports to the government, the government takes the money, but doesn't tell the employer until THE END OF THE YEAR, after all the W-2 information is submitted, that there are certain social security numbers that do not match. They surely knew in January.
I am also amazed at the lack of assistance from our Unions. The Unions are here to give our workers good wages and benefits. Why do the Unions insist it is not part of their function to ensure that the people they refer to us, as employers, that the people they are sending us are legally allowed to work here.
I believe there are plenty of legal immigrants and very young American workers that want to fill the lower paying jobs. (i.e., College Students).
I also think that before any more amnesty programs or guest worker programs are enacted, you need to secure the border (build a wall). I really don't want to go through this same scenario every twenty years. Remember this was done before (circa 1987) as a one-time deal . . . .

I'll get right to the point. I'm black. All my life, I've been told I am lazy and don't want to work.
I have done shoveling,
shoveling snow,
cutting grass,
carrying groceries,
paper routes,
shining shoes,
Burger King,
McDonalds,
Laundry Facilities,
delving in self-employment (cleaning service),
yet and still, as a professional, educated black man, I get looked over because (and I totally understand business, because I have a business college background) they can hire five illegals and not pay me. Duly pay as is deemed to me being qualified.
I'm not against illegals. Every job I work on, there are tons of immigrants LEGAL AND MOSTLY ILLEGAL. My problem is that, for people like me (black men, poor white men, blue collar Irishmen, Orientals, Polish, etc, etc, etc). We get shafted in pay. NO WE SHOULDN'T SELL OUT. Whatever happened to the pride of the U.S.A.? This is 2007; sometimes I feel so discouraged.
I am all for legal immigration - God Bless anyone who wants to be a part of this country legally. Giving 12-20 million people amnesty, letting them become legal, and gaining rights as citizens will ruin our country economically. Our social services (Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security) will go bankrupt. Congress will want to raise taxes to cover the losses and the economy will come to a stand-still. We need to stop the bleeding. Control the border (north and south), execute the laws already on the books, and this will sort itself out. Technology, will come to the rescue if necessary. According to one study only 24% of migrant workers make up the work force in the so called services and agricultural industry. Certainly, the market could handle that small of an adjustment to secure our country.
We do need immigrant labor to work in agriculture because there just are not enough Americans who can or will do those jobs. I have no problem with expanding the guest worker program, IF there is going to be criminal prosecutions for anyone who overstays their visas, and we greatly expand ICE and sick them on visa overstayers.
As far as other workers, do we really need so many Mexican and Chinese Restaurants, gardeners, maids, etc. I am willing to mow my own lawn, wash my own car, make my own meals, and do other chores around the house.
We must not let the Bush/Kennedy/McCain Shamnesty bill be revived. It is dead and it must stay dead!
No, we do not need to make illegals welcome to stay with full rights just because we have not done the job of keeping them out or sending them home. We do not need them to do farm labor saving the large growers from spending the money to up-date the process of harvesting crops! We have plenty of high school & college kids willing to wash your car, mow your lawn ect. to help them with school costs. I worked from the age of 10 to earn my own money for school books & clothing, my Dad didn't pay support & Mom didn't have the money I needed. There are still plenty of kids like me around willing to work doing the work that an illegal would take from them to support his family back in their home country. Let them go home & make something work in their country instead of coming here looking for a hand-out. They are over burdening our systems so that we, the true Americans, can not receive the help we need since the money is going to provide for those who have no right to our health care, schools, jobs, housing ect.
I know that they really don't intend to do us harm, they are not aware of how they are hurting us. They are just people in dire need. I do have compassion for them but if you don't take care of your own you have no business taking care of others! There are thousands of American kids without health care & the government is cutting back on Medicare & Medicaid! Please, don't talk to me about making them legal just because they broke the law & are here sucking us dry! We cannot afford these people. We are already a debtor nation.
I'm sad to inform you that YES, you are going to run out of all of that, and you forgot to mention the housekeeping part, babysitters, delivery guys, construction workers, pet walkers, so get ready and start studying all this for the future.
