Does a green card make a person a legal immigrant?
Answer:
Yes, because a "leagal immigrant" is an immigrant who the government has records for of currently living here and a green card does just that. It's an ID given to immigrants with an ID # in which the gov. can find their information. Plus it's a permission from the U.S. government allowing them to live and work here.

Rather the other way around: legal-immigrant status entitles a person to a "green card". Many such cards in circulation are either counterfeit or fraudulently procured.
Yes a green card makes a person a legal immigrant.
Yes, but only if the holder really got it from the US Government and not from some guy selling them in the park.
If the green card was issued to the person whose personal information and picture is on the card, then that person is a legal immigrant.**
You're on the right track!
A green card allows a person to stay in the country indefinately and to find employment, something which is restricted if your a non-citizen and the visa type, but does not grant citizenship! It is a step closer to naturalization though, once the green card holder has met the legal requirements necessary. Also, a green card can be revoked if the person holding it has been charged with a crime(s), etc.
Furthermore, the Virginia Tech gunman was a permanent resident, and would spark a furor around the nation, when revealed that green card holders were allowed to purchase a gun.
No. A visa makes you a legal immigrant. A green card allows you to work in this country if you are not a citizen.
Yes, the person is what they call a lawful permanent resident! The person is granted the right to reside and work within the US. The holder of this card must reside on US soil for 3-5 years and meet both continuous and physical presence requirements , before qualifying for citizenship! Obviously, some people here have never seen the newer permanent resident cards and how extremely difficult it is to counterfeit!
It makes them a legal immigrant who can work and who are legally free to leave and return the states. I am currently here legally on a k1 visa, and I have 3 months to get married and adjust my status to a greencard holder. It's quite a long process and have to go for a biometrics appointment and interview before the greencard will be issued. It will then be conditional for 2 years, after which i can apply to remove the conditions, which requires another interview and then i will be able to get the 10 year greencard.
