How to get permission to live in the UK???

i know you have to take a test & have a visa/passport and what not, but im 18 years old and i wanna eventually start college there, not just study abroad but live there... and i know since im 18 i dont have much to offer the country so i was wondering if there is any advice anyone can give me as to moving to the UK or getting permission to live there etc. ??? anything would be helpful, thanks!
