india has a very big population and corruption.
there is billions of billions un accounted money and trade in india to avoid taxation and to rich people avoid tax but it is pushing country into poverty. that is why rich country inhibited by poor people.
money is vested in few peoples hand. on average is more than enough.but we cannot distrubute wealth like that na
1.india is over populated
2.we have lesser resources
3.unemployment
4.illiteracy
5.poverty
all the above are inter related too.
the above reasons could be causing our country to lag behind than the developed countries.
but we r developing....and no surprise if one day we may be on par with the so called developed countries.
Because India is developing country & they(usa,england,france,German... are developed countries.
Firstly i would like to thank the asker for asking this generous question .And now i will try to answer this question according to my knowledge that why india is not like other developed countries.
Friend,Our Dear country India is a great , you know why if emotionallly talking then it is b'coz it is one of the old civilization,its great culture,and if practically speaking then because of it is no.7th in the manner of its size,its population is vast ,this population can be beneficial for the country but we are taking it in wrong direction.
The major challenges before the country is population ,Poverty, unemployment,price rise,corruption etc. We the citizens , just the citizens can make it best all over the world. if we all emphasise not only on our rights but also the duties ,our country will be better, 150 crore population if wants to do something good but legally what can not we do. such an example in indian cricket team ,if 1 player is good ,and others r not ,so will we win? ,No,never.11players should play well.Singapore -a country smaller than bangalore,only 45 lac peoples, In 1980 it was nothing but right now it is one of the devloped country, i am not saying that we are lacking behind but we need to do it much faster. We the indians have more efficiency ,capacity ,master minds than all over the world. Japan - a country which is a victim of nuclear bombs twice but right now it is one of the most developed nation in the world.so, you know in the abroad police ,the govt., the authority need not work so hard for maintaining the rules®ulations, people themselves maintain it ,u know why they want their lives in better condn. so they maintain peace ,sincerety and most importantly they behave like good& civilized citizens,they consider their country as their home.So, friend what we need to do is we have to be right & correct citizens for our country.This is not that i am telling to u only to be perfect for the country ,i just want to convey this message through this answer to whole country, that if they want their lives luxurious ,high standard they have to make their country perfect by being perfect

many reasons are there , it is a viscious circle .
over population ,poverty, backward agrriculture, corruption the most shameful reason which is the reason for in efficient government measures. The 4 year plan is never completed in time it takes atleast 5-6 yrs for them to be a success.
massive brain drain is bringin foreign exchange but it is eating away the massive force of skilled individuals.
u must be kidding by comparing India with those countries when it is already a great achievement by our farmers who are feeding one billion people.
It is goin be tuffer for the farmers because there is alresdy a lot of pressure on land and hence causing its degradation.
It is more important to first look at literacy measures, poverty alleviation programmes and raise the economy of the lower sections than to straight away compare with the developed countries.
