Commonwealth........ I was born in Ireland......?

I was born in Ireland and have an Irish passport. My mother was born in the UK, and she has an Irish passport. If she was to apply for an English passport, would she be eligible for Australian citizenship seen as its part of the commonwealth? Would this in turn allow me to apply for citizenship in Australia?

Answer:
Commonwealth means nothing, i think Australia is a independent country so it makes it's own Immigration laws!!!

Australian Embassy in Ireland

or
Australia embassy in England

Why don't you ask the Australian consulate?
Call immigration in one of those countries.
