How can Canadians get a greencard?

I plan on moving to the U.S in a few years and Im wondering what are the steps in getting a green card and is it easy to get one

Answer:
Canadians need to go through the same procedures as anyone else to get a green card. This involves getting an appropriate visa, and living in the US for the prescribed period of time, then filling out the forms, providing the documentation and paying the fees. More information can be found at the USCIS website.
I guess it is the same for everyone. Canadian or not. Fastest is either marrying an American or H1B work visa, where you need to get sponsored by a US company. After a few years of working for them, you can apply for a PR card. Since the 2007 allocation of visas is filled up, you can try for the 2008 batch. Start scouting around now as there are a lot of applicants.Tired that the Maple Leafs don't do so well?**
Also, I hate to be a bummer, but Canadians don't qualify for the Green Card "lottery."

H1-B might be your best bet. Also, if you are a Canadian citizen you might qualify for a TN (NAFTA) visa.
