Last time I checked, there weren't 20 million illegal middle easterners. But if you check the democrat boards, you will see that they want open borders so they will let anyone in...no background check needed.
Because roughly 70% of all illegal immigrants are Mexican. Furthermore, roughly .7% or 13 billion of our GDP goes to support illegal Mexicans (not all immigrants - just Mexicans) via various social programs. This number does not include money sent back to Mexico- the numbers vary to widely to quote any thing reliably. Most Americans were content to stay silent until they started holding rallies demanding rights. I think that's when the back lash started. It certainly changed my mind.

Probably those from Mexico are closer and everybody thinks that if we close our borders than that will end illegals crossing the border. Some actually think it is only the Mexicans that are illegal.
