Mexican President Felipe Calderon said Saturday he wants to protect migrants from a "culture of persecution"?
Answer:
Well, maybe he should send out an all-points alert and call them all back home where he will take care of them so they don't have to feel the need to leave their own country.
Mexico deports their own illegal aliens. He needs to zip it.
Also, Mexican criminals target Americans travelling in Mexico. He should be concerned about stopping the rising number violent crimes committed against Americans in Mexico and in the U.S..
Illegal aliens kill over 9,000 Americans yearly. That is three times the number of people that died on 9/11 or in Iraq.
he wants to protect his countrymen that illegally enter, live, and work in the USA...and continue to enjoy the BILLIONS of dollars they send back to mexico every year
No difference then what Bush, feels on the subject.
Bush loves Mexico....
Bush loves the Mexicans.
Bush loves the Spanish Language....
He could care less, about the ones who voted him in..
He must laugh at them,,,,, everyday.
He is wright saying than USA must do something to reduce demand and trafic of drugs in their own country(wich is the bigest consumer in the world) these cost to much lifes in all countries involved, no demand no offer, No colombia nor mexico or wathever, another country will take place.
He also began extraditing drug lords to face justice north of the border, something that the United States had urged Mexico to do for years.
The Mexican leader criticized the U.S. decision to extend walls along its southern border, arguing that both countries should focus on improving the Mexican economy to keep people from seeking work in the U.S.
"Mexico should be prosperous and not require its people to leave," he said.
But he added that no measures — not walls or migration accords or even a booming Mexican economy — will completely stop Mexicans from working illegally in the U.S. because the trend is built into the fabric of both countries' cultures.
"No amount of jobs or investment can stop it completely," he said.
Recognizing that, he said he supported Bush's proposal to allow Mexicans to seek temporary work visas for the U.S., and he promised to fight to protect migrants from a "culture of persecution" in the U.S.
Well perhaps hes trying to say that Mexicans are being asked to assimilate here in the USA and he thinks they shouldn't have to or, be forced to assimilate. If they are here on a guest worker visa/plan then they will be going back to Mexico. If they come here and work, pay taxes on that income then return to Mexico ...I would support that. As long as they don't come illegally.
I'm not really sure what any politician from any country really means . It could just be more rhetoric to support Mexicans remaining loyal to Mexico in the USA ,even if they become citizens.
I agree with some of the other posts hes going to miss a lot of that money. ''Persecution'' lol that's crazy they need to look at how they persecute immigrants ,and their own people before they start talking about us, Since we are so horrible maybe they should give us back all our billions of financial aid !!!!!
It's another example of Mexico's belief that they can tread all over our sovereignty. And with the current crop of politicians in office, he's absolutely right.
It's really none of his damn business what goes on inside our borders. If he doesn't like the way Mexicans are treated when they cross over here - illegally - then he should take measures to keep them in his cesspool of a country.
i truly hope this man is affective, honorable, and tenacious. The relationship between Mexico and America has degenerated far enough..!!!
Areas of problematical government down there are as much the cause of our border issues with Mexico as is any thing else..!!
Government in Mexico has too long been self-serving and self justifying. Perhaps this man can address that... perhaps he can put Mexico on a track toward it's own seance of national pride... perhaps he will reorganize and clean out the politburos that has so castrated that country's government for the past 40 years...
perhaps pig will fly, ...who knows,..until i see him go for the 'CAUSE' of his governmental corruption, rather than the effects of it, I'll hold my opinion in reserve.
Maybe he should use his efforts to improve his own country so maybe all the people wouldn't have to come into mine.
However, Calderon — a close ally of the U.S. who has sparred with Chavez — rejected the idea that he would lead the region's anti-Venezuela campaign.
"I am not interested in playing a role with Bush in that aspect," he said, adding: "The United States has a lot to do to regain respect in Latin America."
Just like our allies the French. They will be there when they need you.
Ah yes, Now they are migrants, not illegal aliens. Like there is some law of nature, like gravity, that forces these people to come here illegally and that enforcing your laws is somehow persecution.
Look, we do not need any more fair weather friends like the French. Either you are with us or you are not.
What is it the US needs to do to gain the respect of Latin America? Roll over and play dead? Sit up? Chase our tail?
How about we come over there and kick your a**. Is that what it takes to gain your respect you pompous SOB.
The more we do for other countries the more they expect us to do and the more they dislike us.
It is time for Mexico to step up to the plate and PROVE that they are our ally, otherwise Calderon can stuff it.
Maybe he's going to keep them home?
He wants his economy to keep booming, and for us stupid Americans to apologize and give him more money then to do what he does and send him back his people.
I think AC/DC said it best ""Listen to the money talk""
