Can anyone lead me to a website for answers on immigration and problems with a sponsor?

My husband has a sponsor who has helped us financially and we are paying them a payment each month. Now her husband is demanding we pay them the total in full. We aren't able to do that yet, as we are just getting on our feet. They are taking us to court, threatening to revoke the sponsorship, and put a lien against us so we can't purchase our house. We need to know if they can do this. Up until now, our payments have been fine, and they cash our checks each month. We have never wanted something for nothing. When my husband first got here, and she helped us with our apartment and bills as he couldn't work yet, when he sold his house in England, we wrote her a check in full. We have full intentions of paying them back for things done since then, we just can't do it in one payment. Can you tell us if you know of an immigration lawyer that can answer questions or website where we could see what our rights are and what we are up against. We would appreciate it greatly! Thanks

Answer:
Is this a sponsor under the Affidavit of support, I-864, who is now claiming that you owe them money in exchange for them signing that affidavit?

If so, then their request is unenforceable under current immigration laws. They cannot revoke the Affidavit of support, once submitted and accepted by the USCIS (assuming that your husband had already gotten his green card). Now, the affidavit is not revocable.

If, however, your husband signed a Promissory note in exchange for the money the sponsor gave you, then it is NOT an immigration problem. You shall discuss the situation with an attorney.
Here is the best site
omg that is extortion and illegal. they are supposed to pay foryou not vice versa. they cannot put an immg lien on you either. the govt could but not them unless they go to court and get a court order and no judge in the us would do that on those grounds.

go to www.gpoaccess.gov to learn the laws for the us and each state has it's own laws as well.

ru in the us or canada as the post get posted all over. if in canada they still canot do this either. horrible people!
I doubt very much that these people will take you to court as I believe that what they are doing is VERY illegal.
Are you immigrating to the United States? Is your husband a US citizen yet? Unless your husband is being sponsored by a family member or an employer, I'm not really understanding your question. Something does not sound right. The whole situation sounds illegal. Not on your part but on the part of these "sponsors".
There are many groups on-line through "Yahoo Groups" that legitimately help with immigration issues by answering questions. Most of the group members have actually immigrated or are in the process immigration, so the information is usually very good.
I'd honestly shy away from advice on immigration matters here on "MyTend".

A lawyer will probably cost you money that you may not have so I would also suggest contacting a helping organization such a multicultural organization that deals with immigration matters in your husband's area. I am not clear as to whether you are there with him or not.

Good luck to you.
