What's racist about being against illegal immigration?

Everytime I hear a debate on immigration, someone gets called a racist. Why is racist to be aginst illegal immigration? Now, if someone was against illegal immigration from only African countries or Nordic countries, then I would see a point. I don't get it??!!

Answer:
There is nothing racist about being against illegal immigration.

The pro-illegals know very well that their argument is nothing more than "But what about the puppy dog eyes" so they scream the word racism to kick up dust and hide the facts of the situation because they have no true, reasonable, intelligent argument.
BECAUSE IT HURTS CERTAIN PEOPLE , I GUESS.
There's nothing wrong with being anti-illegal. The criminals are just trying every trick in the book. Boo-hooooo poor me in order to break ur laws I had a gun pointed at my head forcing me to evade INS and other sad tripe. They're just another criminal attempting to rationalize the crime
It is not racist but it is not fair to treat the illegal immigrants the way they are being treated. They are human beings too ,you can't just get them here to work for nickles and quarters and then say now its time to go back. Nobody leaves US and history proves it. It has been going on for more than 200 years !
Well it’s like this, according to the rest of the world only whites in America can be racist. I think it is because we won’t just give them everything we worked for our whole life.
It's just a tactic used by illegal immigrants and their supporters to take away attention from their illegal status and draw attention to opponents through name-calling.

I find it interesting that all the folks who yell the loudest against immigration reform don't seem to understand the difference between "immigrant" and "illegal immigrant."
There is nothing inherently racist about being against illegal immigration. In the US, illegal immigration usually refers to illegal Mexican immigration and there are many racists out there who complain about the issue and in doing so make racist slurs.Try to make sure that when you discuss the issue, take care to be logical an patient. I think most people will understand that illegal immigration is unhealthy for the country when presented with a well-thought-out argument. There will always be those who will pull the race card because they have something to gain politically. That's why you see a good number of people making headlines in the news.
It's because typically people only rail against certain groups of immigrants. How often do we hear about Irish, Polish and other European illegals? They are here in large numbers too.
I know what you mean. people who argue against illegal immigration are sometimes called racists. But some people are genuinely affected by illegal immigration such as those that get scammed or ill treated by criminal legal immigrants or they don't get the job because some other illegal immigrant has highjacked it before them as they are willing to work longer hours on lower pay, thus these native individuals even if they do have the skills to do the job don't get it and their discontent is genuine and founded. however, there are other illegal immigrants too who are genuinely in need of aid and help as they suffer oppresion in their own country and come to ours in search of a better life. To these individuals we have to be understanding because even though we whinge and moan here in Britain we do not suffer the worst forms of oppresion that some of these illegal immigrants do. we are also a civilised and educated society so we should empathise and help these citizens of the world because if we were in such a situation we would be desperate for help too. So a debate on illegal immigration would be helpful to society in understanding the issue, it isn't racist as long as individuals who argue against it adhere to the values of tolerance and provide rational arguments not based on stereotypes or prejudices.
I like hearing the "Do unto others as you would have done to you" argument, but in the case of illegal immigration it is "Do better to others than for your own family". That is where the problem lies.
Not a bloody thing. The ppl who resort to name calling like that only do so because they know their own argument is intellectually weak. Calling some1 a racist just ends the conversation.
It's the oldest trick in the book, the ad hominem attack. If you don't like the message then attack the messenger.

The pro-alien lobby knows that White Americans have been sufficiently cowed by threats of being labeled "racist", sexist, homophobic, anti-semitic, xenophobic (depending on which special interest group is trying to stick it to the mainstream at the time) that most will back down if you use one of those labels against them.

This is the same crowd that gradually changed "illegal alien", the only legitimately legal term for those people, to "undocumented worker" and now "undocumented immigrant". What a difference a euphemism makes...
Nothing.

Illegal in not a race.
There is nothing racist about illegal immigration. Some are called racist because on how they word their questions based on illegal immigration. Example: How can we get rid of the illegal Mexicans that reproduce like rabbits? That is racist because they are generalizing all illegals to be Mexicans.-that is racist.
it's not to be against ILLEGAL immigration! it is however racist when people don't want it because it's brown people who are coming here!

White people don't own America... we stole it from the Native Americans.. Who cares if Mexicans come here and outnumber us? we kind of deserve it if you think about it!
Being against illegal immigration is NOT racist in itself. But unfortunately, when many people start ranting against illegal immigrants, the monologues gradually evolve into a rant against Hispanic culture in general.

A simple example:
"I'm tired of these illegals speaking Spanish in our country!"
First, you're assuming all illegals are Hispanic (most are, but not all), and...why are you assuming someone is illegal because he's speaking another language?
It is not racist to be against illegal immigration. The race card is always used when they have no other argument.
Calling me a racist or a bigot has no effect on me whatsoever. It doesn't hurt my feelings or make me change my mind about the issue.I couldn't care less what they think of me,because they really don't have a clue who I am.My avatar might be the picture of a white girl with blonde hair, but is that really what I am?
I am called a racist because of views on illegals by a Colombian lady yet she hates Mexicans, Guatemalans etc. and she claims to not be racist
