Most middle class Americans don't even help those that raised them. Once they are elderly enough to have them deported into a nursing home!
NO! I support helping the disabled or the mentally challenged but the people are poor for a reason. Everyone has the oppurtunity to wake up in the morning and get an education but people choose not to. They have million dollar dreams with welfare expensives.

You know I was getting off the freeway last week and there was a homeless man standing at the stop light asking for money. He had a sign that said "homeless, please help, anything will be appreciated".He was in perfect health (although a bit dirty), had both hands and feet (meaning that he was not handicapped). I asked him if I he was willing to work in exchange for money B/C I could get him a job (I own a landscaping business). You know what the bastard said to me? I don't want to work, I just want money. If I wanted a job I could go look for one. WHAT AN A $ $.
Those people aren't worthy of being helped. It's the people that are willing to work and earn their money who we should be helping.
YEs, you never know oneday you might be poor. You know where you been but you don't know where you are going.

ONLY the people BORN into poverty though not the ones who made themselves poor.
nobody can help other people unless they help themselves. a healthy and able person can find a job and is not worth monetary needs. but for disables, mentally challenged or abandoned children, are worth every cent you'll give.

Define 'poor' and tell me why they're poor. If they're poor because it's easier to sit around and collect a government check or some other hand out than no. Or, if they've made some stupid life decisions such as popping out five kids or fathering a litter of kidlets before they've finished sixth grade, then no. I'd be happy to help the children, but not if they're living with their parents who have already demonstrated incredibly bad judgement. Then, if they are physically or mentally challenged, than sure.
