No, don't do it. If you are a permanent resident get a new card, and if you are a conditional resident I think that you are illegaly in the USA.
It will work if you want to go see an Immigration Judge.
If you are planning to travel out of the country, take the few hours to get your paperwork updated. It could saves you hours or days of grief on your return trip.

No. Well, probably not. It will only work if you get an uneducated legacy-Customs inspector that is bored and doesn't care about anything other than weapons of mass effect and narcotics. If you run into one of the old immigration dogs you will wind up in deferred inspection, at best, and at worst in removal proceedings. And you can't tell the two apart by their uniforms any more - they all wear the dark blue uniforms.
I presume you mean that you did not file to remove the conditions of your residency, Form, I-765. Get 'er done!
If you mean your I-551 expired and you didn't file the I-90 to replace it, Get 'er done!
Save yourself the headache. If you run into an overzealous CBPO or show up on the day when they are doing training you'll be at the port all day and may wind up in detention. Get things squared away and then take your trip.

If so, then you should be absolutely fine going to Mexico with your valid passport and valid green card issued on your maiden name. You can update your name later.
