Why the big fuss over illegal immigration?

employing illegal immigrants is all a part of our culture and this thing known as free enterprise. allow me to illustrate...
this is a capitalist society. businesses are constantly trying to maximize profits by keeping costs, generally labor, down. if i owned a farm, i would have to pay people a lot of money to take care of my product and i would pass that cost along to the consumer. a head of lettuce that now costs about $1 will then cost about $3 and factor in the rising fuel costs, make it $5. now i need to figure out a way to make money. why own a business if you dont want to make money? may as well have socialism then. so, by hiring undocumented workers, who i pay a pentance to, i can keep my costs super low and make lots of money. its all about the market and as all republicans, right-wingers and moderates alike know, the market knows best.

Answer:
This is for sizie or suzy whatever your stupid name is , I've noticed that the majority of this country is stupid and uneducated, you people are saying your loosing your jobs, the majority of the jobs that illegals take are non educated jobs, mostly general labor. Now I see why american or Big companies are going over the border and overseas, because thats where educated people are. And yes there are educated people in Mexico and around the world this isn't the only country that have schools. As to the question asked, I agree/
By your logic, we should also allow child labor and slavery, after all it will make products cheaper too.

Yes they work cheap, all that does is lower everyone else's wages (if they haven't lost their job entirely) which makes it harder to afford that 1$ head of lettuce.

You also fail to take into account all the other areas of life that illegals effect. Education, Healthcare, Law enforcement, and yes Welfare too. All areas that the illegals DO NOT PAY FOR because they don't pay taxes.
Some people believe that illegal immigrants are more prone to crime (not true; most of them are trying to stay under the radar) or are taking jobs Americans could have (true in some cases, untrue when it comes to the really brutal stuff that Americans don't want to do). To me, the strongest argument against illegal immigrants is that they deplete the tax base (paid illegally, they thus don't contribute taxes) and that they burden our social infrastructure, especially in the case of hospitals -- again, as illegals, they have no health insurance, and if anything goes wrong they have to go to the emergency room of the nearest county hospital.

I think there are a lot more ways to handle the problem then villifying the illegals, but those are the big talking points.
will give you another scenario. Because of all the illegals and companies getting cheap labor every-ones pay goes down. Millions of Americans are trying to survive on minimum wage. Would you rather pay $1 for your head of lettuce and make minimum wage or pay $3 for a head of lettuce and make over $20 an hour? But it doesn't stop at lettuce. Because of all the illegals and low wages, people cannot afford to spend as much as they use to and so companies profits go down and more people lose their jobs. Remember you said to maximize profits you will have to keep profits down. It is an ugly cycle that only spirals down.
It boils down to this. There are NO facts to back up the claim of "they take jobs Americans won't do". The fact of the matter is a good deal of employers real ideals on this is "they take jobs Americans won't do for minimum wage".
I agree, who is going to work in fields picking veggies for min wage, or by the "basket", along with no benefits?
Another side is, are we already paying $5 for that head of lettuce? With all the social costs involved with the hiring of illegals, doesn't that head of lettuce already cost more than $5?
One last thing, who do you think did all these jobs that "Americans won't do" in the past?
I've heard all the pros and cons to this debate and it still boils down to this. They have broken our laws and we are paying the price of their law breaking. They have to go! Seal the border, make hiring illegals a prison offense, make it illegal to the point of having property seized and sold to rent to illegals, ban all social programs, and ban the free hospital use, and they won't have to be deported, they'll leave on their own.
I beg to differ. This may be a capitalistic society, but if you open your eyes, you can see the numerous SOCIALISTIC IDEALS that have incorporated itself into your legal system. Without them, there wouldn't be minimum wage, health care, and social security. Remember, illegal immigrants are PEOPLE TOO and thus, they deserve the living wage that other citizens and residents already have. Illegal immigration is obviously inevitable and a feudalistic wall won't stop it, nor simply ignoring it. Instead perhaps try amnesty and a offering life rather than death and ignornace.
The era of living in a borderless world or a world that had no borders saw liberal and violent commerce and trade and cultural exchange. Before the map as we know it today was drawn, the world was really a borderless land where there were no migration policies and no documents that needed to be produced when traveling.

These maps of today redraw the elevation of the nations of the world to high fetishes that require documentation as gateways to these lands.

A few hundred years ago, people could go anywhere without needing a document freeing them to go there, but today, people need documents to move, if only to different locations on the eternal earth.

This is loyal of the state, or nut spaghetti politicians, but just another freak of men.
It is a crime to hire an illegal alien.

It is a crime to hire anyone under the table.

It is a crime to hire someone for less than minimum wage.

That's why the "big fuss" over hiring illegal aliens.

If the U.S. needs more workers all we need to do is increase our immigration quota. There are hundreds of millions if not billions of people around the world that would love to come to the U.S. if only given the chance. We have an immigration quota for a reason.to CONTROL the influx of immigrants to our country.
You said it your self, it is illegal. How do you feel if somebody moves in your house without your permission because they want to have a better life? One other big problem is when you think keeping your cost supper low is good; we really can not lower our stander of living like you do.
First off it is not a partisan issue as the destroying of the reform bill proves. Also do you ever think of the citizens? For every job that is taken by an illegal immigrant a taxpaying, contributing citizen looses his/her job. Explain to me how it can be an economic advantage for a countries citizens to loose jobs to non citizens from other countries, we would have to subsidize social services to that American worker PLUS we would be out the taxes and fees that we KNOW FOR SURE that he/she pays. The only winner in this situation is the business who gets cheap labor at the expense of the taxpayers.

It does NOT make economic sense to choose a non citizen who will spend half his money in another country, may or may not pay all the required taxes and fees and also will receive medicaid when needed, educational costs, etc. If I have to pay a higher price for vegetables I am more than willing to keep all our citizens employed and spending their wages locally and keep those taxes circulating into the economy.
I don't recall hiring illegals to do a job at a low rate of pay to be part of our culture. Slavery was wrong and was done away with a long time ago. If you had a farm and hired illegals to do the work so you could get rich, you would be breaking the law also. You would have to pay them "under the table" which means they aren't paying taxes and neither are you. If you are selling your goods to a grocery store, you could be considered a corporation and not paying taxes on all those illegals you would hire will get you 20 years in prison. So think about that. Think about the SSI you won't get when your too old to work and medical benefits you'll need that you won't get either because of the illegals that work and don't pay taxes, you don't pay taxes, and the ones that are here now getting the benefits will suck the system dry and there won't be anything left for the hard working American citizen. I just don't get how the left wingers brains work!
It is a house of cards. If paying $3 for a head of lettuce disturbs you, it is because it draws attention to how underpaid we are.
I'm a business owner... I make plenty of money... and I don't pay illegal immigrants for jobs that any unemployed american citizen would love to perform... There are many legal mexican americans who will work for about the same amount as an illegal. Same thing goes for all immigrants of any nationality. If I would've wanted to make money illegitimately I would've gone into organized crime. The cost of doing business is the cost of doing it legally. There are other ways to reduce overhead without breaking the law. My pricing is very competitive with others who use undocumented workers because they bump prices up to match the cost of legal workers, while keeping the extra profits. Those extra profits are minimal at best and are earned illegally. So just don't hire them and you'll stay out of trouble... especially in Oklahoma.
