Would Latin countries be as successful as China if they did the one-child policy & spent more on education?

Brain-skills equal "SUPPLY"

People equal "DEMAND"

People without world-class brain-skills equal
"DEMAND WITH NO SUPPLY".

Answer:
The one child thing is a tough call. I believe in limited government and child control is the ultimate form of intrusion. Education is the key. The few upperclass people of Mexico just don't have more kids than their resources will support, simple as that, and they're also Catholic. I don't think your religion dooms you to having a village full of children.

Of course the Mexican governent should allocate some of the under-the-table money out of their pockets and into building the education system, but that's only a start. Pure money spending on education should primarily go toward infrastructure - building new schools and rennovating existing ones in order to provide a reasonably comfortable learning environment. Just throwing more money at a problem doesn't work though - just look at US educational spending. Spending is astronomical, yet we spend more and more.... but are our kids' performance getting better and better? No.
Probably. But how would they do it?
YES But HOW????????????????You are talking impossible as far as the child policy is concerned .Even Jesus will not be able to convince them.
It wouldn't work. Hispanics are generally devout catholics, which currently have policies of "birth control is bad" and "if we can't convert em, we'll breed them out." Plus being from poor communities, there isn't a whole lot to do for entertainment besides have sex, Thus each of them are popping out a new one every 10-12 months.
I think it would be economically and more importantly environmentally good if people just had up to 2 kids, not producing any more population than themselves but actually making them is crazy. Maybe we could tax people more with more than 2 kids.
Good point. Lest you forget that nearly 80% of Chinese people live at poverty or near poverty levels.

Being educated is an admirable notion. But using that knowledge to contribute to mankind is essential. For the most part that is not happening.
People from any overly populated country might benefit. But there's plenty of other ways to decrease a population other than limiting children. Children are the future. Much easier with starvation and disease and war. China is going to have a problem since they've also got way more males than females.......
Mexican Nationals average about a 12 year old mentality. Sex, decorations, cars, dress, business fronts, on and on! Education education education, but not on my dollar! I'LL GLADLY GIVE MY HARD EARNED MONEY to deport the invaders, but I will no longer finance this organized crime that our own government is involved in! I'm now tax free until the civil war........CSA! As far as them being educated in Mexico? By who? The Mexican Gov. likes things just like they are and they are not our friends! As a matter of fact leaders of Mexico...YOU ARE A PILE OF CHIT!
In China they have discipline and a continuous government even though is not perfect but a government. In Latin America there is no discipline of the government or the citizens and no continuous government. The government all they do is to fat up their pockets and then come to the USA or Europe and live like Kings. How could you ask a question like that, when they are always blaming the USA of their miseries and problems and not them self. See all the demonstrations that are taking place in Latin America because of the visit of the President of the USA. They hate us, just want us to send them our dollars and stay away of their countries. About China, they only exist because of the USA but if we decide to leave and don't buy what they are producing, they all will turn to what they do best, make kids and farming. So don't kid yourself about China. Just tell me about one country in the world that doesn't need our American market, just one. ? NONE !
I wish every person on earth would limit themselves to just one child, but I believe personally that it would be wrong for any government or other organization to REQUIRE this.

I think it's unethical to lower the breeding rate by coercion, but I'd like to see it lowered by persuasion.....somehow convincing people to have fewer children, and making it very easy to have a small family and making it inconvenient and expensive to have a large family.
In China there are not USA companies stealing natural resources, the state controls everything.
China does not spend 600 billion every year in army and bases abroad, USA is doing that right now.
USA government corrupts Latin American politicians, increasing famine and poverty.
USA companies are well established in Latin American countries stealing their natural resources.
yes.
You are talking about countries that have a very strong hold with the Catholic church. Birth control - other than by total abstinence is a taboo for them.

Before such could ever begin to be considered - that particular hurdle would have to be overcome.
China is communist, and every time a Latin American country turns to something other than democracy, America intervenes. To my belief democracy only works in countries with high education: No Latin American country other than Chile and Argentina have a considerably high education in the general population. To my view, they should establish a socialist-type of government that ENFORCES education and reduces corruption. After all the people are well-educated, then democracy may be considered. I think Cuba is more than ready to turn into a democracy, since their illiteracy rate is 0% See what I mean?
I am a Latina, and feel very offended by the types of comments you are making. First of all NOT ALL LATINOS are UNEDUCATED and NOT ALL HAVE MANY KIDS,. On the other hand My mother had 7 children's and ALL OF US WENT TO COLLEGE AND FINISHED OUR CAREERS. You are doing wrong by saying that "People without world-class brain-skills," ARE LESS THAN YOU. I Don't know who do you think you are to be classifying people in that nature. I don't know if you believe in GOD, but in his eyes WE ARE ALL THE SAME. FROM PEOPLE WHO LACK MEANS OF SUBSISTENCE, TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE EVERY THING IN ABUNDANCE. Be thankful to your creator if you drive a nice car, and a nice house, and clothes to wear. But STOP DIMINISHING PEOPLE.
absolutely no.
Chinese people are smarter and work harder on average
You are perfectly right and i like it that you understand about economy.
The one-child policy is vital for a good economy, in my opinion it should be applied everywhere. Look at Saudi Arabia, they have a lot of oil but the unemployment reate is very high because they still get 5-10 children per woman.
No, I don't agree with the gov't limiting the number of children people can have. It interfers with religious beliefs as well.
the south American countries are equally capable to any European and Asian country if they choose to. but the kind of governmental management laced by colonial Spanish, makes it impossible for the Latin countries climb the economic pole as they have like in other country's mentality of a crab. just look at the Philippines, Mexico, and the other countries where Spanish legacy is present. the only way to progress is to diversify, leverage and stop bigotry...
Well, shelters often spay and neuter mongrels and strays!
