"Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan." or "Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan." That's what MECHA means.
I should point out MECHA is a student organization it is in all major universities across the US. U Wisconsin, U Michigan, Penn, and where I went to undergrad UTexas.
They are a separatist organization they believe that they are being racially discriminated against because they are Latinos while totally dismissing the idea that maybe it is their ideology that is being discriminated against.
I can tell you my experience with them. After looking at student organizations on the UT campus. I thought about looking at some of the Hispanic/Latino organizations so I went to MECHA to find out information. Finds out from talking to their members I'm not the type of Hispanic they are looking for, neither was my friend who was from Peru who is Black/Hispanic. They questioned me being Hispanic because I am fair skinned even questioned if I knew Spanish. When I told them I was Hispanic and that of course I speak Spanish and that I was born in Spain but my family moved to Mexico when I was 10. They basically said my family was running the "Mexican" people that I was responsible for what happened in Mexico when the Spanish came in the 1400's. I was basically in shock. They told my Peruvian friend she was not Hispanic either since she was mixed with African and European background. According to MECHA you have to be what they consider Hispanic.
MECHA is not very friendly towards people even if they are from Mexico who are fair skinned Hispanic.
I should note that the members of MECHA are not your average joe. The members of MECHA are educated and are working towards college degrees in major universities. I do not agree with their views or their goals. Even though the members might have great futures in whatever career they take. Their views are out there.
There's nothing wrong with people in the United States being proud of their background it's when you think your better than other people or blame every problem on other people. Instead of coming up with a solution and a way to branch out and meet with people of different communties.

Their ultimate goal is to graduated from, high school and college. The 2nd is to instill pride in the Chicanos/Chicanas by informing and educating the Mexican American of their history and heritage . That the American school system denied them and to alert our communities of the white Neo/Cons anti Mexicans agenda. All Chicano's are Mexican, But not all Mexicans are Chicano's. Chicano's are activist for their people./ issues affecting our community. It is a title that one chooses to be called. I am a Chicano!!

To understand the objectives of MeCha, please refer to Coza 24. I do not see any of the lies the other commentators have mentioned. Two thumbs up for Coza. For those who will be so quick to say that the objectives are lies, then wouldn't the constitution of the U.S. be a lie when it says all men are created equal, yet U.S. "scholars" said that Africans were 2/3 human and Indians were savages? Just a thought.
MECHA is financed by the FORD corporation and started by it - if you can believe that. Their goal was to assimilate people into American culture.
Then they went to court and won a case where Hispanics were declared neither black nor white - in the 40's I think, but a separate race of people.
Since that time they have vowed to take over the US and ethnically cleanse all other people back to Europe or wherever they came from - but you'll never find them as a racist organization on the Southern Poverty Law Center. I know, I just checked.
Why don't we take it from one of their racist slogans: Everything for the race (mexicans), nothing for those out side the race (white Americans).
