Well for one thing Canada does not have a K-1 Fiance Visa, that is for the USA only, so he is researching the wrong visa.
What your fiance needs to research is Canada's Family Class Visa's (Spouse, Common-law Partner or Conjugal Partner visa). For more information see this site:
