Bringing my household stuff back from Canada - taxes?

My husband took all our household possessions to Canada. I want to move them back to America. I am a citizen, he is a green card holder. What will happen at customs? These are all possessions that I had for years before he moved to Canada and rented a house there. He agrees that I can have them back. What will the customs people say though? Will I have to pay tax? I hope not! It is things like tables, washing machines, computer, piano, rugs, clothes...

Answer:
I don't think you will have much trouble . The Canadian government is 10 times worse than the U.S. as far as taxing imports and placing duties . You may have to explain that the goods were originally were purchased in the U.S. to avoid exceeding the personal exemption so it would not be a bad idea to save any receipts or bills of sale.
