Do you think (minor) possession of marijuana arrest on a person's record (that has been cleared) will effect his or her chance of getting a US citizenship?

Misdemeanor offenses do not currently affect your ability to become a citizen. Felony / federal offenses, will make it nearly impossible to get citizenship. After the immigration bill is signed.which puts citizenship on the point system...it may change all of that.
it has been my experience that ANY drug related crime could be a problem when filing for any job, benefit, gov. program.

That all depends on wether the US has access to that information from your criminal record from what ever country you are from, if you say its been expunged then how would they know? and therefore no it would not stop you getting US Citizenship.
You will have to live in the USA and have legal alien status and have a green card, I believe you can apply for citizenship straight after receiving green card. I have not decided yet wether I want to do it or not, It would have been good to have it just to vote anybody but Hillary clinton for president.
Convictions always COUNT! Arrests have not been known to cause problems! Second thoughts do not count in the long run!
Ask the bum Illegal Alien(who was smuggling drugs too) who got Immunity and Citizenship? after two Border Patrol agents shot the Illegal in the butt.
Both Border Patrol agents are serving 10+ years in jail.

Possession with intent for sale would get you deported, however.
