Anyone upset about the visa travel thing?

IM MAD! getting a passport is already tough enough, now i have to travel to the embassy or consulate to fill out a visa form when i don't live near either?! and most countries require a visa to travel to that country. and some people gave me misleading information on MyTend.com , they said after you get off the plane your passport gets stamped and a slip of paper goes into the passport and that's your visa. they completely left out filling out a form, taking photos of yourself, and paying $30 dollar fines to get this "visa." im sad, i thought it was as simple as getting a passport stamped, but i am not traveling to a consulate or an embassy to get a form. why can't they just accept my passport and stamp it like they do in japan and canada? visas should only be for people who are staying in the country for long periods of time.not for someone who's vacationing for TWO DAYS. I WANT TO GO TO BRAZIL, CUBA, GHANA, RUSSIA, etc. I hope someway i can get my passport stamped:no visa!

Answer:
Americans ask for visa from a lot of countries why shouldn't those countries ask for visa too?Why should everything be free for you.Don't like it - don't travel
Each country has their own laws and regulations regarding visa requirements. Take this as a lesson to not rely solely on MyTend.com s for accurate information. Plan ahead and research each country's requirements. It is all available online.
You should not trust MyTend.com on anything that is as important as getting travel visas. Look up the Immigrations and Customs Agency for each of these countries to find out what they require; most will allow you to do at least part of the transaction via postal mail. As for why different countries want different entry papers, those are reciprocal agreements made between each country and the US (or whatever your home country is). Some have been in effect for a very long time and most are politically motivated. The other country makes the rules and we just have to follow them. Unfortunately you have picked some destinations that have had long-term hostilities with the US and many European nations, so the entry process is not going to be as easy as going up to Canada.

And if the country you are visiting requires a visa and you don't have one, you will not even be allowed to check in on your flight, so do get that taken care of before heading to the airport.
preach it Member89!!, rotten bastard, who does he think, trying to travel... its just a shame!!
Are you american? They won't let you go to Cuba even if they issue you a passport. The US doesn't do any kind of business with Cuba. That's why they're investigating film-maker Michael Moore.

Since I don't know where you live I can't help you with the visa and passport question.

I do know in canada we can pick up a passport application at the post office or online from immigration.

I have heard talk for people who drive into the us they're saying possibly enhanced drivers licensces now , but that hasn't been finalized.

If you are flying into a foreign country you usually fill in the declaration forms on the plane , hand it to customs with your passport and any visas and customs checks your luggage and id and passport. It never really takes that long , unless the airlines loose your luggage.
You can get a visa before you leave by mailing your passport to the consulate of the country you want to visit, with appropriate paper work etc. Check with the consulate to find out what you need. This requires advance planning and time. When you ship you passport make sure you ship it by the most secure means with insurance. Brazil you can get a visa through Washington DC but also through Atlanta office.
Here is a website for obtaining Brazilian visa.

They should also be able to provide you with any other info you might need.
USA makes it easy for any criminal to enter the country, they don't keep track of aliens from anywhere. Immigrants are overrunning this nation and most other developed countries.

You just wish to travel. Those visas are not that difficult to obtain. Just remember, Americans are not well liked, especially since GW took office and wrecked the image. The only thing USA is valued for is it's ability to throw hard working taxpayer dollars overseas to help ungrateful countries who continue to hate us.
What's so hard about getting a passport? You fill out a form, write a check, and wait a few weeks. No big deal. As for the visa, you don't have to go to the Embassy. Use the mail system. Quit whining. If you want things to be like Japan and Canada, why not move there?
Well, in the first place, you should never look to this forum for answers to legal questions or for passport and visa requirements. Any one with half a brain would ask a professional - the airline or a travel Agent.there is no charge for using either and they would have the latest up-to-date-info.

If a country requires a visa, you must get one. You will be denied boarding at the airport if you do not have the proper documentation. If you manage to somehow squeak by and get on the plane, then immigration in the country where you are going will deny entry...you would have to stay in their passport/immigration control area and take the next flight home.

All of the places you have mentioned require visas except Cuba..Americans are not permitted to travel to Cuba. No airline or agent can sell you a ticket.

Russia requires a completed visa application several weeks before you intend to travel. It can take up to 2 months for them to send you a visa. Brazil requires a visa application at least 4 weeks prior to your travel.

Now, as for your travel plans. It is impossible to vacation at any of the places you mention if you only have 2 days. Travel time to Brazil is approximately 12 hours if you take a nonstop flight. Russia (use Moscow) from the east coast is about 8-9 hours and much longer from the mid-west and west. In addition, the flights are generally overnight flights.

If you do decide to travel, it is possible to get a visa by applying on the internet or by calling. They will send you the papers required. You fill them out and return them, with your passport and any other items required (like pictures, etc). These visa services will do all the paperwork for you and send your passport back with visa attached. There is a fee for this - usually 60.00-100.00 or more depending upon which country's visa you are applying for.

There are several but I have used this one for years and find them to be reliable..
