Ask you constituency MP to produce hard figures for the cost to the tax payer of their 1 seat in parliament.

MPs and the PM are all civil servants but some turn a blind eye to the bigger picture.
I'm uncertain about that answer, I propose therefore to set up a pilot government department with a remit to discover the answer. The department will be given five years to come forward with a response, in order for this to be effective I will need to recruit 300 civil servants to carry out the research under the leadership of a management team of 600.

Show me a public body that isn't. They need extra staff to cover the excess sick leave that they all take, as well as doing things of a PC or social engineering nature, that are not required.
Only by Managers!! I'm one of 43 members of staff recently relieved of their duties at the Inland Revenue. The reason i'm a Fixed Term Appointment. Although I have worked there for 2 1/2 years am fully trained and proficient at my job I have been thrown away so that a permanent member of staff can have my job. This is going on all over the place to both FTA's and permanent staff as they reduce civil servants by 100,000. Many of the staff are mothers as they are one of the few employers that use flexi-time. Absolute madness as my office alone stands to lose 12million this year in incollected taxes because of the cuts. And the government who apparently ordered these cuts are now announcing plans to push mothers back to work! We'll they just made their job a damn site harder coz as a single parent I can no longer see the point in trying to get ahead.

There are far too many Managers and Senior Civil Servants. Consecutive Governments have tried to destroy the Civil Service. By making everything Call Centre and stopping people coming into an office to speak to someone, they are destroying a valuable public service and hitting the vulnerable. It is not the Civil Servants on the ground's fault, but those that supposedly rule the joint.
