The other day, Bush urged congress to keep trying to find a viable solution to the immigration problem and to keep working on it. I think he just wants to deflect their attention away from the problem of the war with something that could keep them arguing until doomsday. I don't know what you mean about his needing workers in the future, but I don't think Bush has ever intended to withdraw from Iran. He wants a permanent base there to protect American's access to mid-eastern oil in the future. If we left altogether, these people would be free to sell their oil to China.
Oh god, I just realize that when the military gets back, we need to find jobs for all of them. Heck, all the military contractors would also need to lay off people when we start leaving Iraq.
As for never leaving, He might have ment like having a presence like Korea, Germany, Japan, and Taiwan. I am more afraid of what Lieberman said recently. He wants us to start attacking Iran. I think its a bad idea to have a permanent base in Iraq. It would fuel even more hate towards us.
If he's building a base that can house a quarter million, men, it Doesn't mean we will station that many. I would more likely think its another corrupt dealing to give money to people to construct bases we won't use.

What I heard from British intelligence, is that all our activities is meant as a scare tactic towards Iran. The brits do not see us having enough resource for an invasion. I heard rumours of a nuke, but its stupid to fire even a bunker buster with so much American Presence in the Area. American troops would revolt if we nuke the area while they are near by. Those bases In Iraq, might be place there to remind them we are poised to attack them. I do believe one of the reason we attacked Iraq, was to sandwich Iran, but The resistance of the Iraqis damaged any possibility of a full blown war with Iran. Bombing Iran, is a different story. I hope it's merely postering, because, we don't have the troops to fight so many enemies. The good news, is that we have a good secretary of State that has a backbone to defy Bush. Today, I saw Gates tell Bush its stupid to give China a state of the art Nuclear reactor, because it might help them build submarines. Hopefully Gates can talk some sense on the India deal too or to tell him we can't invade Iran.

I'm sorry, but I really have to direct my answer to NICE N...it does NOT have to do with stopping people from killing each other...it's sad that soooo many people in this country can't think for themselves and rely on a political party to form their opinions for them. As far as people killing people, what about the genocide that's been going on in Africa for the past 15 years? We aren't trying to stop them from killing each other, most Americans could care less. Not only are we not doing anything to help, in the early 90's 6 African countries went to the UN with armies ready to try and stop the genocide in Rwanda, but the UN (under pressure from the wealthier countries) wouldn't back them. You can hurl insults and name-call all you want, it just shows your own ignorance and inability to think for yourself. Why don't you pull your head out of the sand and find out what is really going on in the world? Because you really don't care, do you?
i like reading your post. and yes i know bush whacked said this. i don't agree with this iraq crap, but i think we need to finish the job bush started. if we leave now, the terrorist will grow bigger and be back to do worse. and if Americans would stop having abortions we would have a growing country. after 2 maybe 4 kids it's time to stop.
