Do you need a visa to go to italy?

Im a indian citizen, but I live in New York I have a green card. Do I need an italian visa to travel to Italy?

Thanks!!!!

Answer:
Yes, you need a visa, even for less than 90 days of tourism; look here: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp...
The GREEN CARD only helps you return and enter the U.S. It has no implication on visas for Europe. Basically, if India lacks a visa suppression agreement with Italy, you need to apply for one, otherwise you don't. I hold a Mexican passport, and the few times I've been to Europe, I can enter w/o one for 3 months (in the Schengen territory) it may be the case with your passport. Check with Italian embassy or consulate.
As a US green card holder Indian citizen, you need to get a Schengen visa to visit Italy.
